IX cruise speed + Octane level

hey fellas, been around the forums alot reading things before i actually sign up. got several questions which i couldnt find the answer to. i have a R33 skyline which i cruise on 5th gear @ 60km/h which means i shift gears at around 2500rpm and when im in 5th its sitting somewhere between 1800-2000rpm. thats quite safe on the skylines going on straight roads but with the added gear on the IX MR what is the safe low rpm for each gear? driving in the city i only use low end rpm but i dont want to burn the gears either. anyone know the safe cruising speed for gear 4/5/6 assuming your on a straight road? im in australia so its km/h and not in miles. second question i have is that here they recommend using 98octane but i see in the states you guy use 91/93 octane. are your IX tune for 91 octane and our ones are tune for 98 octane yet we still get the 206kw or 286hp? oh btw the IX MR im getting is getting shipped from japan so its not brand new but its cheaper then buy it new outright here which cost 57,000AUD or roughly 42,750USD and thats just standard with no accessories. u guys are lucky over there.

I typically cruise in 4th around town or 5th in the open roads. 6th on the highway of course. Where I live it is pretty curvy and hilly.

don't have awnsers to your question just wondering how much you paid for your skyline? Don't see to many of those here in the states. Ive seen three @ various car shows in ny and jersery. Lucky man to have an evo and a skyline. Which do you like better?

not in the states mate, in melbourne australia. skyline was imported 7 yrs ago. 1995 model. skyline is great on economy. running 11litres per 100km while shooting up to 13litres per 100km on city driving. selling the skyling right after the evo comes. i like the powerful engine of the skyline but its time to get a decent family car havent driven a 6speed evo before so im alittle cautious on what gear/rev i should do. again no real hard driving here. just minimal revs to cruise around with. first thing i'll do is remove as much weight as possible to increase the pwr/weight ratio and put less strain on gears at low rev changes. did the same thing to the skyline but it has been modded with heavy duty clutch and flywheel. feels much better even though i only removed about 50kg or 100 pounds from the car

If you are debating between a 6 and 5 speed evo, they share basically the same 1-4th gear. 5th is a little taller in the 5speed IIRC.

not really debating on 5 or 6 gear evos. just wondering if i can run 5th/6th gear at low speed like at 40 miles per hour without causing to much damage to the gears

I think you guys use a different octane rating level. I think your 98 is the RON octane rating, while ours is RON+MON/2. So our 91 octane really isn't that different. I might have switched something around there. Somebody correct me here.

You guys are on the RON octane rating down under , in the states our 93 octane gas runs about the same as your 98. The only thing that changes is the method, though I'm not absoulutely sure how that translates to our method.
