Changing IC piping for POWER!?

This question is about changing the upper and lower IC piping while keeping the stock IC. Are there any substantial power gains by changing the LOWER IC piping. I know Injen has some dyno sheets to show a difference with their intake and upper piping kit, but what about the lower? Thanks.

The LICP can give you around 7-10whp along with quicker spool, but the UICP doesn't help.

Check out AMS's site. They claim the Lower IP gives between 7-10hp (not whp like stated above). I can attest to definite throttle response. Not 100% sure on the upper piping, but it can hurt.

Think of it like this, you're eliminating bottlenecks and increasing the rate of airflow. Just like exhaust...

Oh, and for most of our levels of mods, an intake upgrade actually degrades performance. Do your research.

stock turbo, stock intercooler.....upper IC pipe won't do much for you, lower IC will help, and a K&N filter and maf pipe will hurt your performance, especially on the road course when underhood temps get crazy hot.

You think replacing the lower IC pipe with the Injen lower pipe kit and just dropping an HKS panel filter in the box is the best?

Don't do the HKS filter - it is not re-usable and must be replaced. Use the K&N or Works for your drop-in filter, and instead of messing with Injen, go with one of our leading vendor LICPs: Buschur, AMS, or Nisei.

After seeing the oily residue a K&N tends to leave inside the MAF, I wouldn't use one.

You've gotta try to clean it off first....somehow. Best way I've found, buy one that's slightly used! Then use an air compressor to make it 'like new'.

I know that's a half-arsed way to go about it, but it'd work.

never use an air comp. on a k/n filter. even k/n says not to use compressed air. and the mess comes from people who use too much oil when re-oiling they,re filter

I'd like to get matching upper piping too, but with all those kits you mentioned, you have to use the mini battery.

The Injen kit works great plus you can leave the battery where it is.
