I'm building a EVO 6 here in the states for someone right now. You already have the basic upgrades. I would say that you could use a fuel pump, big intercooler, and some intercooler piping to start. And make sure your exhaust is full 3 inch with no resonators.

For tuning you can't do AEM on a EVO 6 and have it be plug and play like the EVO 8. You would need the generic version and you would need to completely wire it in, which is no small task. Autronic makes a plug and play ECU for the EVO 6 though.

With all that you can upgrade your injectors and do a bigger turbo. At that point the choices are vast. HKS, or any of the US guys who do turbo kits. Do you want 450 on pump gas? If so what octane can you get?

I just bought my EVO IX, so I obviously have lots of questions. One is, what HP is the stock FMIC good for?

And my next question, (Sorry to get off topic) how do I get 350 HP, but still have room for expansion without having to replace parts again if I want to go higher.

Basically I want to modify my car, incremently increasing my HP/TQ. So what would be my first upgrade? Second upgrade? Third upgrade?
Etc.....

This is because I'm not Mr. Money Baggs and I can't spend 6 G's in one day.

All the help I could get would me much appritiated!

Thanx.

Basically you won't need an upgrade until a larger turbo. The EvoFQ400 with the HKS turbo still runs the stock FMIC. You figure it is good till 400WHP.

It is just ONE mod but a combination. If you have an Evo IX, then your first set of mods should be this.

Full 3.0 Turbo Back Exhaust
Cheapo eBay 02 Housing
Hallman or Forge MBC
Boost Gauge
ECUTEK Tune, that will net you 80WHP gain. After that you need to worry about your clutch going. with those mods you will NOT BELIEVE it is the same car.

Very simple and inexpensive piece that removes a lot of back pressure that the stuck unit clogs up. Improves spool as well. VERY cheap, get one.

But don't use their sh1ty gaskets, get an OEM gasket or reuse your stock ones.

You would need a built everything before even thinking of that turbo. 900++++WHP. Keep your stock turbo for a while, it is VERY good.

I would go with:

- walbro 255 l/h fuel pump
- drop in hf filter (k&n, etc)
- 3 inch turbo back with hf cat or test pipe
- mbc (hallman or forge)
- good reflash
- licp (ams) & o2 housing (ebay) for faster spool up
- boost gauge

This package is good for over 400 hp (not whp), it means you again around 100 hp over stock. For complete safety i would buy also apr head studs and rod bolts.

The stock clutch won't be good for a long period so consider Act or some other oganic clutch with good street driveability.

Take care and have fun with the IX!
