CEL code after mods/tuning

I am currently pulling a P0138 code (Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage; Bank 1 Sensor 2).
Background:
  • Last week got work done including cams, porting/coating manifold, o2 housing, and hotside.
  • Tuned at the end of the week.
  • Picked up the car and did a test ride, ran fine, no codes.
  • Stopped car, started car 20 min later and drove home.
  • Threw SES light right away.
  • Have reset 2 additional times with same results after second restart.

According to my research, this is the 2nd sensor located off the midpipe, NOT the one off the o2 housing?

Anyone with some insight on why this is being triggered and possible solutions? Has anyone experienced this after porting exhaust parts? Or after installing cams?

Yes, I do run a test pipe with mechanical fix (oxygen bung) and I do NOT believe that is the problem since I've been running code free for the past 2 years.

Thanks in advance.

Autozone sells OBDII pullers. I picked up one for like $80.

when they been working on your o2 mani, they probably had exaust hang on the o2 sensor for lil bit. Ithink wire is broke, try to swap sensor with anotherone to see if it'll fix it. But most likely its the reason.

Did you talk to the shops that did this work to see if they had any ideas on the matter?

Buy a new rear o2 sensor (~100 bucks) and install it. If it goes away, the sensor was fooked. If it doesnt, then you will need to invest in an electric O2 fix (eg perrrin).

It is a really grey area as to why these codes keep popping up, no one ever seems to have a real answer as to why it occurs.

As far as I know, there is no other way to tell what is going on, altough some fancy OBD2 readers may let you look at the waveform that the sensor is sending to the ecu.

I was getting codes after the cat-del install.Installed mech fix and still getting codes.Pulled out the o2 and wiped off the black gunk and found a slice in the wires.Replaced it and no more codes!Anything on the road could bounch up and slice those wires.

Thanks for the replies.
I wanted to go to Buschur after I got some feedback to perhaps pinpoint the issue down a little more.

Al initially pulled the code and said it was a my front O2 sensor and I had a bad front O2 sensor. Go figure.

I will have to get the car up on a lift and confirm the wiring as well as the integrity of the O2 sensor. I have never had a problem with a dirty O2 since I'm running the oxygen bung off the test pipe.

I'm just surprised because I ran fine before I took the car into the shop. The work done shouldn't have impacted the rear O2 sensor, maybe front O2 sensor when they swapped the O2 housing.
