i had problems with my spec clutch in another car, I'd never use them again. . .I'd stick with ACT as well and just eat the cost of the clutch, at least they covered your tranny and you got a new housing out of it. . .jesus, I still can't believe the clutch clamp load shattered your housing, NOW THAT'S CLAMP LOAD!

Well,

I spoke with SPEC,

they are refunding my money for the clutch, it was a sponsorship price, so it wasnt much, but nontheless.

I am also asking for the money back for shipping charges (65 bucks, 3 times) for having to send the clutch back for repairs before, and for having to send them the stocker back to measure when the first clutch was wrong.

I think I'm being a little less assertive than I should, because figure.

clutch removal and re-install 4 times x $750.00 = $3,000
shipping charges of = $190.00
repair for clip = $100.00

total of $3290.00

If this was a customer's car, I would have eaten a loaner car cost etc, because of their product.

Hopefully they will rectify the problems, I hate to have these issues with companies in our industry.

Im going to go Exedy or ACT 6 puck.... since the Tilton doesnt work on the MR.

If so, it is because of the friction material. There is no fixing it but the noise shouldn't cause any problems.
I no longer get the squealing noise from the Tilton Clutch. It took about 2 months of use to finally go away.

Ask anyone that has had a spec clutch in an S4 how they liked it. A friend of mine had one destroy his bellhousing as well, but another friend has one on his mustang and is running fine.

I've had a SPEC mini twin and a super Twin and never had an issue other than normal wear. Used both until they started to slip around 12K miles each which is normal for cera-metalic twin disc clutches.

Drifto it is hearing people like you that make me feel good about getting a SPEC clutch. however i have heard about experiences like yours A LOT less than experiences like the OP and CBRD lol. would you recommend the SPEC mini twin over the Exedy twin or triple?

My experience with Spec was less then stellar as well. From day 1 my SuperTwin would shift horribly. In the end it resulted in a broken 3rd gear ring due to the clutch not engaging properly during a high rpm shift that destroyed my input shaft and differential costing me over $1000 in repairs. I will never use another spec clutch again.
