Vishnu vs Buschur and Al.......I LOSE!!!
I thought the C16 or VP 116 race gas is LEADED, and only the VP MS109 is Unleaded. Its too confusing. guess I better hook up the Methanol, and stick with that! Thanks for the replys.
Another point as to this drag-racing stuff. I had my coilovers on their tightest setting, and was told by a Drag-racer evo guy, that you need to make them soft, so you get out of the hole better, and make the car "squat" at the line. Does this make sence to anyone? and I had the tire pressure at 25 PSI. Just a random thought again.

Hey Doc we need to do the grudge matching again it seems as though we get through the staging lanes a little faster.
Luke where were you? y the no show?

Man I wish I would have gone now. I had a full tank of Speedway 92 and I knew I was just hurting myself with that extra weight, so I stayed home and did yard work.
I want to get into the 12s before I put my boost controller on or do any other mods and I don't think I was going to do it Tuesday. Those 13.0s were pissing me off!!! I'll be out there next week for sure and hopefully I can into the 12s.
12.2s aren't too shabby. You'll have to take me for a spin
The grudge match lane is the way to go for sure!!
smokedmustang,
Since you are in Indy, which is fairly close to us, why not bring the car over to the shop and we'll dyno it then reflash it. Get the car dialed in for you, just shoot me an e-mail or call.
As for leaded race gas. I agree with the fact that leaded race fuel will foul a set of spark plugs out. The weaker the ignition system on the car the sooner it will happen. In my case the tip on my exhaust is almost always white from the leaded C16 I run in it. I prefer to drive too but I prefer to drive really fast.
As for race gas, leaded or not, slowing down a car.........this is news to me. I've personally never seen that happen.

Well, the point i see here is:
Kevin, you made it sound as if you were on a race gas tune in the first post...when you were not. As said plenty of times already, you aren't gaining anything by dumping in race fuel and not making changes to the pump tune UNLESS the pump tune is too aggressive which in your case i doubt if Andrew tuned it.
Sell me that ignition system of yours and wait till you need it to buy another!

So many definitions so little time. What is it? What does it do? Quick search found.
#1 Octane - "A petrol rating of how quickly the fuel burns. The higher the rating, the slower and more controlled the fuel burns. This allows its use in high compression engines."
"Slower", "quickly", "controlled burn", interesting, don't we want a fast burn right???
#2 Octane number - "A performance rating used to classify motor fuels by grading the relative antiknock properties of various gasolines. A high-octane fuel has better antiknock properties than one with a low number."
Hummm, "performance", sounds good. "Antiknock", we need that right? More is better then.
#3 Octane - "A measure of the resistance of a sample of gasoline to premature ignition (knocking). 100 octane fuel has the knocking resistance of 100% iso-octane (2, 2, 4-trimethyl pentane). Zero octane fuel has the knocking resistance of a mixture of 89% iso-octane and 11% n-heptane."
I like that one but what the hell does it mean??
#4 Octane:
(1) An alkane having the formula C8H18. Flash point 56°F. Explosive limits of 1% to 3.2%.
"Explosve limits", "flash point", what's that?
My favorite #5
OCTANE: The rating of a gosolines resistance to burn. The higher the number, the less likely the fuel is to detonate.
"Resistance to burn" Very Very interesting, flash point again? Ignition temperature perhaps?? But I want my gasoline to BURN!!
HELLLPPPP!

In short (very short), a gasoline engine can either have 1) a controlled burn (normal), 2) an uncontrolled burn (pre-ignition or autoigitnion) and 3) "knock" (more specifically, "detonation").
Some high octane fuels may tend to have other varying properties because of their composition, but the octane rating refers to knock and ONLY knock, not how fast it burns or how hot it burns.
I wouldn't be suprised if it isn't even the lead in some leaded fuels which makes them burn differently (if they do, in fact burn differently), but rather other chemicals added to the fuel, such as aromatics (like toluene or meta-xylene) and olefins (like cyclopentene), which are sometimes used in small amounts to help TEL in bumping up the octane rating.

As reported in API Project 45, the blending AON's of Toluene, Meta-xylene and cyclopentene are 118, 143 and 149 respectively.

That's very generous of you. I have another idea. I'll be flying into Columbus OH in a couple of weeks to tune a couple of evo racecars. If you're serious about hooking smokedmustang up, let's do it up right. You retune it. Then let me give it a shot. On your dyno. Same day.
It's certainly easy to test that very same day. After I tune the pump gas map we can dump in leaded race gas and see what happens to power. Then I can tune the race gas map. And smokedmustang can compare all the results on the road and on the dyno. Sound good?
