Please Help, Walbro fuel pump Noise / BOV Flutter (Sputter) at low boost
Ever since I've had a walbro 255 it has made the whinning noise and it's especially noticeable at idle. And then when I took out the back seat...wow....really loud. But, my tuner said it's totally normal so I consider it one of the "good" noises, as opposed to the bad noise I heard when I overspun my turbo.
i would go directely off the turbo discharge to the mbc and back to the wastegate.dont go off the bov and you should be fine. A little tip put some light lube on the nipples and use new hoses offcourse.try it you,ll like it.
Fixed!!!!!!!!!!
Well it is amazing what you can learn about a car on accident.
So i did a pressure test... NO leaks!!! Took out the car still fluttered.
Went out bought new clamps.... NO leaks!!!! Took out the car still fluttered.
Changed hoses.....NO leaks!!!! Took out the car still fluttered.
Double zip tied hoses.... NO leaks!!! Took out the car still fluttered.
....and then accidentally turned my MBC knob the wrong way, so i had to start over from the lowest setting which is 16psi. Took out the car at 16psi... NO FLUTTER????!!!!
Turned the knob a little at a time got it to 19 psi took the car out and still NO FLUTTER????!!!!!
Then brought it back turned the knob again got it to 20psi took out the car and it had a LITTLE FLUTTER!!!
The higher I turned the boost past 19psi the worse the flutter got. So my conclusion... Keep it at 19psi.
And anyone that writes in and says “well I knew that". Well then why didn’t you say anything??? BUT I am writing this to let everyone know that is what fixed my flutter. Make sure you are at 19psi and no higher.

T or not to T
I still don't understand why you had to t the mbc off the bov line unless you changed the turbo outlet. Put the mbc line back on the turbo outlet and you should have less flutter.

Ok

Buschur Racing told me to 'T' splice into the hose between the BOV and the intake manifold.

I looked at my 05 last night and the nipple for the MBC on the turbo is no where near the lower intercooler pipe, the LICP is on the complete opposite side of the engine. Even if you replaced some kind of pipes on the driver side you should still have the nipple on the turbo. I am not talking about the nipple on the underside of the pipe because that gets capped off anyway with a MBC, I am talking about the nipple on the turbo right behind the wastegate actuator that is below the pipe that connects to the turbo. I looked at it closely last night and there is no way that nipple is connected to the piping so even if you repalced the pipe the nipple should still be there.

When i splice it in between the BOV and the intake manifold then it leaks. so that HAS to be the sputter, any ideas???
1. The car had a huge leak at the lower intercooler pipe. The Buschur design at the time didn't really allow for a good clamp at the joint (I think they've redesigned this now). On mine, if the engine rocked on its mounts, it would leak. I bought T-bolt clamps and it pressure checks fine up to 26 psi.
2. +1 on the crushed 1G BOV. Al Friedman crushed mine during tune and its smooth as silk now.
The vacuum lines to the BOV are tricky little suckers to seal. I'd definitely spend some time there and get those right.
