i am thinking of getting a intake manifold, do u need a full standalone management systems to run it or can u use a utec or something of that nature?

i replaced my stock E8 manifold with a weapon-r intake manifold about 3 mths back. i ran it on the stock ecu and noticed response improved heaps but that was due to it leaning out and when i installed a ralliart PNP ecu the response wasnt as noticeable as the car ECU had sorted out the leaning condition. I have since gone to a stand alone power fc and car runs fine. picked up an extra 35 HP with ecu swap and tune.

the car will run with intake manifold upgrade and stock ecu but i would get a reflash or stand alone to be on the safe side. i picked up aprx 15hp with the intake swap.
Car has a more noticable sound now when acclerating as the walls of the manifold are thin sheet aluminium.

General rule is if you add more air, you'll need to add more fuel.

A person with a stock turbo will not see the gains from a larger intake mani like a person with a larger aftermarket turbo. This is not to say that you won't see a gain, but there is a very strong argument made by saying you could spend the $$ elsewhere to see a bigger return on your investment.

I dont think a lot of these Sheet metal IM have EGR valves which i thought would cause a problem with the stock ecu. Somebody chime in or correct me if im wrong.
