why would you make a dyno run after replacing the fmic? no tune is required.

You don't need a tune to see what a new part has made or lost on a dyno. You run it to see how much of a change was made to your current set up. Where the boost hits, how efficient it is and what not...

did you have to take the factory crash beam out? I was thinking about getting the Perrin only because it covers the whole bumper plus you don't have to take out the crash beam. Any pics of the install? Oh yeah, how much did you get the TurboXS FMIC for and did you replace UICP or LICP?

Actually you almost never see gains with a FMIC upgrade (when there is already a FMIC) on the dyno. The reason being that there is never enough air moving through the intercooler to approximate driving at xxx mph. Sure it might do a good job of simulating 30mph worth of air at WOT, but that fails to show what the additional airflow did to prevent heatsoak.

Examples of where I have seen gains from a FMIC install:

1G and 2G DSM sidemount to FMIC
Subaru Top mount
Mazda Top mount and 626 sidemount

The Evo is very well engineered as it is, and the factory core is probably the best available intercooler ever put on a production car.

How much does it weigh? Does the crash bar still fit?

Is this the intercooler? It seems freaking expensive at $600 on Ebay. Can anyone sort out where they got theirs - and how much.
