Yes Cali does suck for smog and emissions! They make such a big deal about regular cars on the road but Diesel trucks and diesel powered vehicles are exempt yet they create a lot of the smog in cali.Go figure.

When I was in graduate school in Indiana, there weren't even mandatory safety/roadworthyness inspections let alone emissions testing! Boy did you see some beaters and s***boxes on the road!!!

I have no idea if this have changed since then (I left Indiana in 1994)....I'm getting old.

Well I got my smog in CA today. I am in the military and have the car registered in TX, but I have to pass CA smog every 2 years. Mods are in the sig and was tuned by Alfred at Tuning Technologies.

thread back from the dead. okay, now that it is 2008, who still has their evo and has smogged it? i still have two years before mine is due, but i still am stock. any heavily modified evo stories passing legally out there? what were the HC, CO, and NOX counts at? i would like to hear about stock passers as well, to see if the HC count and NOX counts are high.

OT, but for you MA guys - I'm thinking about moving at the end of next year to the Boston area - How hard is it to pass smog? If I've got a HFC and I'm not throwing codes, should I be ok (other mods in sig)? or should I maybe do a really lean tune and flash the ecu right before I turn the corner to the inspection station? Hahaha. But really.
