5 year smog.........LOL

it has just occurred to me that the 03 evos are gonna have to go to smog soon, i wonder, since the majority of these seem to be heavily modded, WTF are people gonna do? not everyone is lucky enough to know a smog tech or one that would even do a hot smog....... these cars run rich already, i wonder how many will be for sale in '08............LOL, just wonderin'.........

It's not that hard here in New Mexico. All they do is the OBDII scan and gas cap check. If your car doesn't have CEL or SES codes, you're good. I took mine in woth my aftermarket exhaust, no cat,and passed with flying colors!

Your emissions laws vary according to county? I thought it was by state in the US. In NYS it is every year after two years. If your evo has an OEM cat in it, it should pass, even with cams, if tuned properly.

EDIT, I should add that it is pretty easy to remove a test pipe and slip in a cat once a year to pass smog.

Lucky for me, our inspection in NJ uses a Computer To comminicate with the car, so As long as the car thinks it will pass, it passes. All i got to do is keep the Check engine light off.

Yup, that's pretty much how they do it for all OBD-II cars...... Those with AEM are going to have some issues passing emissions though
