Help: Sticking clutch (Exedy twin HD) at low rpms
I've had the Exedy Twin HD for 4000 miles, with 4 dragrstrip launches and two street launches. At first, driveability was flawless, but now, I'm starting to experience something strange.
Sometimes during normal stop/go driving (not racing), when I press in the clutch in to upshift, I can't get out of the gear that I'm in, i.e., I'm locked in. This usually happens right after I decelerate while in gear.
When this happens, it feels like there is still a load on the engine, even though the clutch is pressed in...I think the clutch may be sticking to the flywheel. I can force it out, but this feels almost like shifting with the clutch engaged. If I wait for a few seconds, or blip the throttle (while clutch pressed in), it comes right out of gear and the rpms drop.
I've learned to avoid the problem by giving the engine a slight rev during every shift (push in clutch, rev, then shift).
The strange thing is that shifting at high-rpms or shifting aggressively is no problem -very smooth. I only have this "sticking problem" when shifing at low rpms while coasting in traffic.
I tried two things so far:
(1) adjusting the clutch pedal to grab at a higher position,
(2) bleeding slave cylinder
neither one helped.
Any ideas?
