Exactly, with those supporting mods when you tune them they will make more hp. Like I said the data is still a little shady. However, the only real test is to dyno a stock car before and after the 9 turbo like what alfred did. Granted his had a couple minor bolt ons but nothing major. Like I said it still dynoed the same.

He picked up about 35whp with the IX turbo but if you take out the flash (which is good for around 15-20whp) it becomes a 15-20whp upgrade. I've met and talked to other local guys who've done the same thing. NorCal is not big on drag racing. We have plenty of 1/4 tracks but we also some of the most scenic topography on the planet and proffesional courses up and down the state. We probably have the country's best handling Evos.

Peak numbers are not everything. It's power under the curve. Even if the IX turbo is only producing an extra 15-20whp of peak power, it's still a great upgrade because of how broad and linear the power curve is compared to the stock 16G VIII turbo.

On the Gruppe-S dyno, with 76 octane, I did 270whp/280wtq with 264/272 cams, MBC @ 22psi, and a 3" TBE. When I get the turbo in I promise to post the charts, both before and after, so we can have this discussion again.

Yeah I know man you are truly blessed with some of the greatest courses.

Also I totally agree with you on the power curve. This is why I prefer the sc61 over its rival the 35r.

And yes please do have your dyno sheets before and after the turbo. Now I am assuming your car has already been tuned with those mods? And thanks for having a great discussion about this. Even though i read about the norcal gruppe s thread at least it was objective and informative.

Thanks bro and good luck with the 9 turbo
