Forge BOV

Okay guys.. i searched and couldn't really find what I needed. I have a Forge BOV that I bought used.. I think is an RS.. but anyways.. it has a rotating nipple.. and its adjustable.. counting the clicks.. it came up to 50 or 49.. and reason i bought it.. was because it fitted my buschur uicp.. flange.. you know that long flange like the one for the 1G BOV on DSM's.. so what am trying to do is.. get the BOV to hold boost..

What do i need to look for.. how do i know if the setting is too much.. or not enough.. it has a plus and a minus.. and starting from the minus.. i can go like 50 or 49 clicks in total towards the plus sign.. I have the stock boost gauge.. so i guess i can use that to determine the behavior of the BOV.. am not really sure if there is more springs for this bov.. and also dnt really know how to dissasemble to check for the spring..

but any tips and clues on what i need to do to make this bov work is greatly appreciated.. otherwise.. i think i might end up selling it... and have someone deal with it and just get that TIAL like my buddy has.. all he did was put it on and that's it.. and heard it hold up to like 40+psi.. anyways much mahalos..

I know there is a spring kit. I had an older version with the spring kit held boost great but surged like crazy could never get it adjusted correctly, eventually I gave up and sold mine, but again this was th older model which a lot of people had problems with. I have heard good reports for the one you have. Just go to one of the many Forge vendors on this site and they can hook you up with a spring kit. Best of luck

From your description, I'd say you have the forge rs so you don't have to worry about springs. As for the setting, you really just need to play with the adjustment until it holds your desired boost. The idea is to have it just tight enough that you make your desired boost level without any real leakage. That way you get the boost you want at full throttle with the least "surging" at part throttle. My suggestion is to start somewhere in the middle (25 clicks based on your description) and go from there.

Yes, when you let off the pedal quick under full boost a "strong set" dv or bov will cause surging and make the car buck. This is not good for the turbo. I learned to just clutch in after boosting then brake. I use this method mostly on the turnpike when I need to do quick lane changes and going on and off boost many times is needed.

just clutch in my friend.

Lols, I just finish talking to jester, I turned it 1 full turn down and heard no click what's the deal. So your saying I have to use the clutch in method or let it leak....
Nice choices. Isn't there a new bov that syncronizes with the cams seen it on streetfire

Clutchdc5, don't hijack the thread.

OP, I don't understand your confusion. That BOV works whether it's at 0 clicks or 90 clicks. The only difference is that the more clicks, the stiffer the spring, thus the more efficiently it holds higher boost. At 19-20psi, you can set that BOV to the minimum setting and be fine. Why did you randomly choose 49-50 clicks? That's pretty damn tight and is stiffer than I set mine for 26psi.

No, your gauge doesn't have anything to do with showing how well the BOV works. You do a boost leak test to determine when the valve starts to open. No, getting a Tial would be a terrible idea with a minimal setup - it's for big turbos with standalone ECUs.

Instructions for tuning the valve should have been included, but obviously weren't at our fault. They can be e-mailed to you if you send me an e-mail request first, however.
