Any 280e cams on IX's

have a few mods on the way including an 02 housing, UICP, and Meth hopin 2 get retuned real soon so before i do i think im gonna toss a cam in... I'd rather not do both tryin to stick to just an exhaust cam... Ive done a search and havent been able to find any IX's w/a 280e cam a few 272's but no 280's! Anyone have an idea why? Is a 280 just too much for a DD any info would be greatly appreciated!

I now have a 280 exhaust currently and havent noticed any driveability issues. It went in easy and feels good though I havent had time to go the dyno. One thing I noticed is the turbo is now definitely audible at an idle whereas before it was not.

I went with the HKS because it was readily available. It didnt seem to hurt any low end (no real improvement though), mid range feels good and it doesnt feel INCREDIBLE up top, but it does feel like it pulls harder longer in the higher rpm. Where before it would seem to die off around 7400 or so, I took it out for a bit of a thrash and it felt really good to 7750 (ran out of road to wind higher). In all honesty I am going to go for GSC's next year because I am an RPM junkie, but if the extra cost isnt something that you want, then its at least worth thinking about just the exh cam.

That is correct, I have tuned for use with the 280. The times in my sig were pre-280 by the way.

If you want a pair of cams made specifically for the IX, you can do GSC's in 272 and 280. Cosworth has 272's, Kelford has 264's, 272's, and a 280/284 int/exh. There's a lot of things other than the duration to look at when getting cams, higher duration doesn't always mean more power.

yes i understand that duration is not the only thing that matters when it comes to cams thats why i was asking if anyone has had any luck w/ a 280 and at the time im not lookin to do a pair just an exhaust cam...

If a company sells pairs of cams, they also sell individual cams. Just giving you some more options....
