boost and going to the track
boost and going to the track
Here's my question.
I'm tuned at 21 psi on 93 octane making 304 at the wheel.
I'm planning on going to roebling road raceway this is the first time i've been to the track since tunning.
Will it be ok if i drop down the boost to about 19 psi without retuning and still be safe for the track or should i get retuned for 19 psi.

Conservative should already be a part of your tune (dependant on who tuned your car - and for what it was tuned for street/drag/track). If you want some more knock safety pump some 100 oct unleaded in.
Running lower boost will make you tune richer - you tuned for more air+fuel, take out the air comp. and its just more fuel.

21 PSI is nothing the stock FMIC won't heat soak at that PSI especially at high speed with high air flow.
The MAF will detect much less airflow and thus inject less fuel. If you are in different load cells that weren't tuned to the optimal AFR, then it could happen.
21psi is conservative already - just toss in a few gallons of 100oct or something, but you don't need to turn down your boost.

Then it is still based on the stock o2, knock, maf, iat sensors, etc to determine fueling and spark advance. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep an eye on the coolant temp and make sure the car doesn't overheat. If you want some added insurance, put in some higher octance gas. But I think 21 psi will be fine for lapping. Your car doesn't know if its lapping or just running down the road so if the tune is correct, in theory, there should be no consequences to keeping the boost set at 21 psi.
I'd just put in a couple gallons of 100 octane with the 93 to give you the 'safety margin'. No need to mess around with the tune.
I'd be more worried about the brakes! Put in some fresh fluid! And oil... and drivetrain fluids, etc.
