Quick question, I have the std exhaust manifold ported, would there be much gain in changing it to a aftermarket exhaust manifold like a tomei etc?

Slightly off topic, but to those guys running methanol or race gas, how much boost are you holding at redline.

I did some runs yesterday and Im running 30psi.. and it falls to 26-27psi at 7000rpm. I have the FP WGA.

Do you have a log for that? I can hold about 24.5psi at 7k on the standard 9 Acutator.

On HKS cams mine holds 26-27 psi. On the Revolvers it holds 29-32, depending on cam gear settings.

Edit> In both cases, it runs 32 psi at 6k where it peaks after each shift.

On what actuator and what gear? Have a log?

HP actuator. Boost peak is highest in fourth gear. I've tried to get it to match in the lower gears to no avail. I've got hundreds of logs, I run the car weekly and log frequently on the street, but I'm not about to go out and get the laptop any time soon.

Thanks kevin, just looking into the various actuators. Whenever you get a chance with those logs that would be great, would love to see the boost plots.

I'll try to remember to grab some screen captures next time I'm in the car.

A quick update since I feel like rambling... The car has more problems than I care to think about right now. The heavy hitters include completely smoked transfer case, warped exedy twin, crankwalked turbo, still unable to get the revolvers to work, etc, just to give an idea. Even with all that boost it still only traps low 120s for various reasons. It was good enough for an 11.60 on a 1.85 getting locked out of second gear, and it runs 11.9s to 12.1s on lazy 2.0 sixty foots.

I'm hoping to get one or two clean passes next week with the new transfer case (thank God for Shep) and new intercooler installed before I pull the turbo out for a rebuild. Unfortunately the thrust bearing has failed. Buschur has been unresponsive for the last few days, so I'm going straight through FP for the rebuild. Hopefully I get more than 5 months out of the next one. I still love the turbo, but I'm considering upgrading.

Please, I just wanna know what exactly you mean when you write, "crankwalked turbo"? Sorry to hear about the bearing problems with your 20G-LT, man!

I dont have logs but my Stewart Warner gauge is dead accurate. My peak boost is only 30-31psi and its holding 26-27psi. I have the HP WGA with HKS 272s. I think that is pretty good, only dropping 3-4psi. Considering on my stock turbo setup on pump gas I was only holding 19psi to redline (24 peak) and I still went 118mph like that.

Any updated traps in the near future? Wait, did you ever get the new set-up dynoed?

Possibly. Its hard for me to get to the track nowadays as Im very busy.

I got my car on the dyno but had nothing but problems that day. They were all eventually sorted out, however, it just wasnt the best day. I had the wrong size alcohol nozzle in there and after doing 6-7 runs we could not figure out why it was knocking. Well after we got the right one in, we did 2 pulls, started making progress but the car was getting very hot. It was 87* degrees in the dyno room, incredibly humid, and to boot, the fan at the dyno was the size of the one in my bedroom (not a joke). The intercooler was on FIRE and I have a BR RACE! The car made 442whp/441wtq, then we added some timing and turned the boost up 1psi and the LICP blew OFF the car (bad t-clamp). The car had to be taken off the dyno and I said just forget it. I was there for 3 hours, stressed out and just wanted to go home. I think on a normal day the car will belt out 450-460whp. If it did 442 before final adjustments while the car was on fire with a tiny fan blowing on it in 87* heat, it will do some NICE numbers now. I was thinking of taking a trip to Sean Ivey's new place sometime soon but its just too damn hot.
