Immobilization code????????

I want to know if there is any way you can reset the immobilization code without taking your car back to mitsubishi. i just purchased another ecu and I was wanting to know if I can do it without being charged for it by mitsubishi.

there's instruction in the manual on how to program a key but you will need the original that goes with the ecu. if you don't have the original with the new ecu, you probably won't be able to program a new key yourself.

that's true, i forgot that key for the new ecu will not unlock your ignition switch. you need to be able to turn on the ignition to program a key. i don't know if you can pull the ignition cylinder out and remove the tumbler pins in the lock so that any key would work, then you should be good to go. do it at your own risk.

your only way out (w/o going to the dealership) is puting the "coded" key under the dash (keeping the ecu happy) near the ignition and just using the regular "old" key in the ignition to turn on the car...

there might be another way. you can use EcuFlash to get the imobilization code from the old ecu and flash the new ecu with the old imobilization code. that way, your old key would work with the new ecu.

it's an free software that allows you to flash your ecu with the use of a Tactrix cable. search for EcuFlash and Tactrix on here.
