Paculiar noise at decel??

I just had a new clutch and flywheel (both ACT) installed on my 03 GSR and ever since then it's been making a rumbling noise at decel no matter if it's in gear or not. All fluids have been changed when the install was done, and I only have 13,000 miles on it. I don't think it could already be my transfer case going out could it? I was hoping it is just drive train slack. What do you guys think??

Thanks for all help

It may be your transfer case. If the wrong fluid goes in, it will eat the ring/pinion quickly.
I had a Mitsu dealer change the oils and they put the wrong stuff in and it was gone in 1000 miles.

well all fluids were changed with Redline, and they used oem for the transfer case. As far as I know those are correct fluids to use. It started making the noise immediatly after the install though. The only way i can really describe it is it sounds like an electric can opener opening a can, but it's not extremely loud. BTW its only when i decel, so I thought it MIGHT be because it revs down a lot faster since I have a lightened flywheel. Do you think it could be anything other than my transfer case?

Thanks for the reply.

This is exactly the noise my car has made since day one and after 35000 miles it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. I use OEM fluids in both the tranny and transfer.

I have a copy of Microsoft's Rally Car game (don't remember the exact title) which I play occasionally and Of Course I drive the Mitsu. Well, the sound track has the competition car in the game making the same sound only much louder. So, I'd say you have the privilege of experiencing the true rally car sound.

On decel in gear, and when you push in the clutch does the noise go away?

Its just normal noise on the 03's. Depends on your clutch\flywheel setup. My friend has act with stock flywheel and his stock noise lessened after install. Another friend of mine with the exedy stage one/stock flywheel noise got louder.

yeah, the noise goes away once I push in the clutch, so I thought it might be that the new clutch wasn't installed properly, but after reading all this I'm sure it was. I'm so glad to hear it's probably not my TC, that would have ruined a lot of plans I had for it if I had to replace the transfer case. Thanks everyone for your help!

A lightened flywheel will be nosier and your revs will drop faster cuz less weight = less inertia

so it's allright to let off the gas and just hear the noise, or is that harmful? or should i push the clutch in immediatly after I let off the gas? is there any way of preventing the noise? also, does anyone know why it would only be that it makes the noise in 4th gear?
