Something is definitely wrong. The head will have to come off. You have 3 possible problems:

1.) Bad rings (oil control rings in particular)
2.) Bad valve guide seal
3.) Bad Valve guide

Unfortunately the motor will have to come apart to fix this problem.

It looks like I will be taking it somewhere to get fixed. Any recommendations on where to take it for the work?

You're in luck. Call Northeast Turbo and ask for Scott 570 459 2229. Don't know how close they are to you but they're in PA (north of Redding). He'll talk your head off about Evos!

Hi Scotts a great guy and will go way out of his way to help you. I called him on the advice of Carmela of Jackson Auto Machine (JAM) to do work on my son's Evo. I have to admit I can't drive a stick. I haven't tried for years and don't want to mess up my son's car. I got him on a Sunday and brought him to Northern NJ to take the car back with him to work on it. Every time I call he answers the phone and my questions or gets back to me before the end of the day when he checks his messages. His shop is clean. Hopefully, all my parts will be in by next week and he can put it back together for me so my son can drive it when he comes back from college for my birthday.

The four places I am dealing with right now are Jackson Auto Machine, Shearer Fabrication, Sheptrans and Northeast Turbo. They have coordinated together very well and I am looking forward to see the finished car.

Regards,
Maurice

Reviving another old thread. I had my #2 injector stick at 100% and flooded my cylinder. Had it brought to Mitsu and they did a compression check and said it was good. Put stockers back in and adjusted the scaling for stockers. Drove it easy for a good 200+ miles and got on it one night. After that I had a bad burning rubber smell. Not the clutch. New clutch with 1200 break in miles cause I babied the car since I changed clutch. This was the first time I actually hit full boost for more than a few seconds then bam, burning smell. It only happens now at startup and shutdown. When I drive the car, its faint at a light or stop sign. Don't want to get on it again in case something else goes wrong. This weekend if I can find tools I'll pull the plugs. I was thinking the cylinder being flooded may have done something to the rings or seals on that #2. After reading this thread I'm thinking I may be in the same boat. I pray I'm not. Too far from home.
