Syncro shot??? help please

hey guys, today I was driving and I started to get a grind as I went into 3rd. . Ive had a little bit of notchiness for awhile since I got the car but no grind. . but the grind got worse and worse, whether I shifted slow or fast or at a low or high rpm it grinds. (and grinds pretty bad) is my syncro shot for sure? Or is it possible that I just need to change my gear oil? Any help is much appreciated!!

synchro's are gone.

If you are lucky you will get it fixed under warrenty.

How many miles on the car? Most people can solve notchiness issues with fluid changes, stiff engine mounts, and/or shifter bushings. Trans temp also has a huge effect on notchiness. Once grinding occurs, you need new synchros.

Sometimes it could actually be your gear oil, so try changing that first. If not then it is definately your synchros. I had the same problem as you and the dealership covered it under warranty. I had an 05 though.

ya its a really bad grind that just developed today. I'm pretty sure im not under warrenty. . i have 53,000 miles. If theres a tsb out for the problem do you have to be under warrenty for them to cover it?

I am assuming you are using OEM gear oil, correct? How many miles since you last changed your gear oil? If it has been a long time, then you might as well change it just to see.

op, I think that the 03s have a 5yr 60kmi drivetrain warrenty.

check your owners manual.

I just found out my powertrain covers me up til 60,000 miles!! And I found a tsb for this problem: TSB-04-22-003 I have an appointment next thursday! One quick question, My car is lowered and I have a K&N drop in. . And also I'm not sure if I have the stock clutch or not because I am the second owner. . so my question is will the car being lowered and having a drop in have any effect on them covering my synchros under warrenty?

I would call a different dealership, do not give them your vin #, and ask them that question.

If you give them your vin # they can void your warrenty right then.
