scorke, I gotta give it to you for building your own FMIC. I hope it works out for you bro.

Also I don't think you're making fun of buschur deluxe FMIC. To me I thought you were just comparing the two. From what I've heard on this forum, buschur racing makes quality parts, and if he has confidence in them. Then he shouldn't careless of the market out there. But it seems like he's getting kind of aggravated from this post.

With all due respect to Scorke, he didn't "build" his own intercooler. He bought a core, end tanks(didn't see any mention of him fabbing these), and couplers and is paying a shop to weld it up.

I'm sure he'll have success with it.

So im under $500

now pipeing for upper and lower ic $1** with some change that is SS also not that other and lighter pipeing. I might even to vband clams to mount on ic and tb to insure it wont pop off. This takes a lil over a hour to get everything to fit right. And labor is almost nothing.

So im sitting at almost $700 almost.

You want to take on the big dogs and your going to use Vband clamps on your pressure piping? God I hope you are having someone do the work for you.

Well since your going to need alot of help heres one. You use wiggins clamps on pressure piping and they are not cheap.

+1 for wiggins clamps. I'd rather use some high quality t-bolt clamps with some silicon couplers from hosetechniques.com. You need some flex otherwise you'll break something.

What's up with the constant Honda bashing?

First of all Scorke, great job and good luck with the project.

Second wiggins clamps are great but the Vband style unit will also work well. As far as flex is concerned...I think you should rethink that statement.

Also, PTE sells Garrett cores, as most people know. The core we use for our Deluxe and Standard FMIC's cost $386.99 each if you buy it from them.

The race FMIC core we use costs $499.99 each if you buty those from them direct.

We charge $659 for the standard FMIC, build the tanks, inlet/outlet, weld them on, build the brackets, weld them on and supply couplings for it. That's $272.01 more than the cores cost, doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

The Race FMIC we sell for $759, same deal, build the tanks, inlet/outlet, weld them on, build the brackets, weld them on and supply couplings for it. That's $259.01 more than the core costs, seems like an even better deal. I don't see how someone is going to justify obtaining the parts, cutting them, welding them etc. for a savings of about $260......

I'll stay out of the thread now.

Have a nice day.

im with dave on this one, seems like a PITA and you might save about 100 bucks for that i'll let dave have his product and make a small profit.

Correct I bought a core and had the endtanks fabbed, everything was done as I needed it not the other way around. I had to remove part of the things that retain the mesh and do some cutting but it will fit my needs.

I'm not doing it to save money, thats merely an added perk, I'm doing it becuase im moving to a bigger turbo thats going to be pushing a lot more air.

How much is the Buschur Race core? Thats why I made my own.... Just saw he changed the price to be equal to the deluxe core? When did prices change dave?

looks good Scorke. it'll be a good feeling looking at that intercooler knowing it works, and works well, and that you did it. f all these haters, it seems that EvoM is full of them lately. it also seems like Dave has forgotten how good it feels to build something yourself, for cheaper...thats too bad.

Waiting for the core took about a week fabrication took a day. Sorry to say retarted it came off rough sounding but I just didn't see what about the parts I used was inadequite or "cheap", lots of people use Garrett cores, lots don't.

To be honest if you look at the design of some of the intercoolers out there the designs really are quite flawed, some more than others.

Just because I said that I myself could put together a decent intercooler doesn't mean that I said buschur couldn't build one nor Mitsu cannot build an evo nor I could build one better myself, stop putting words in my mouth and my thread thank you very much.

Thanks for the kind words, it seems anything you DIY is "cheap" now a days...... Definitely not the case! Usually more costly and timely....

if he saves money in the process of learning something why not put it as the title of his thread....i dont understand why you have such a problem with it anyway,if he can save a few dollars by having his own ic custom fabbed and it performs just as well as the ams or buschur race cores what is the problem...its not like everyone will start doing the same thing and our favorite shops will go out of business
