P0456 code.

Hey wassup

My car been running this code for a long time... and now I want to get rid of it.

this is what i got about this code...

Judgment Criteria
• Internal pressure of the fuel tank has changed greater than 1,177 − 1,373 Pa (0.177 − 0.199 psi) in 128 seconds after the tank and vapor line were closed.
• ECM monitors for this condition once during drive cycle.
.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are) :
• Loose fuel cap.
• Fuel cap relief pressure is incorrect.
• Malfunction of the evaporative emission canister seal.
• Malfunction of the fuel tank, purge line or vapor line seal.
• Malfunction of the evaporative emission ventilation solenoid.

All i wanted to know is where to locate the evaporative emission canister seal, purge line, and evaporative emission ventilation solenoid....

I did a walbro fuel pump install, but does this cause the problem?

I think the evap thing is in the engine bay behind the motor, passenger side....worse come to worse look for it in the factory serive manual.

Check the condition of the fuel lines, check for fuel leaks or cracks in the system,
check to see if the evap soleniod is working

I would suggest getting a screen name and logging on to www.obd-codes.com
and posting up your question. There are some knowledgeable ASE mecanics that frequent that board.

AFAIK the canister is tucked into the drivers rear quarter panel, just below the fuel door.
You can look up from the ground and see it, and all it's attached hosing, etc. right behind the rear tire.

bump for I got a new motor put in cause i threw a rod and now my car is coming up with PO456, Dealer did evap test and it was clear, and changed my gas cap and light still comes on. Any idea what or where it could be from? I think I hear a strange sound on the passenger side by the top of the left of the motor when facing the motor. maybe a hose leak? who knows. gotta bring it back next monday again. but any ideas?

Anyone had any luck getting rid of this code?

My car is completely stock and I throw this code, I've retightened the fuel cap several times only to have the code pop-back on after a few hours of driving.

not a evo and i have the code too. put new gas cap and redid vacuum lines so its definately solenoid or line around it. doubt its a fuel leak situation. hopefully someone figures it out so i can try the similar thing.

i had the same code for the longest, the dealer replaced my gas cap and it stayed on. The dealer found that my vacuum line for my intake had a crack in it. So i would advice to check all your vacuum lines for cracks. good luck ! my light is never on anymore.. thank god.
