weld new bosses on for Evo coils (not same location as Kia/Hyundai)
OE Kia coils run 7mm plug wires and voltage is the same as the Evo coils. welding new bosses for Evo coils make sense if using an aftermarket coil.

There was a Sparktech on the car. One of the bolts lines up which is enough to hold it down but really it just needs "refined" and its good to go.

Also, I don't know if any of you guys know somebody who does cnc work, but I would love to see somebody make up a cover for the coils like on the EVO valve cover. Would make it look a lot better. Could make some money off em too if more people start to source these heads.

Didnt line up on most of the bosses. Maybe I had the wrong year valve cover.

If it does then you can simply swap in the EVO motor mount, the front case cover and everything attached, evo cam gears and call it a day. But if it does not then your off to step 2.
So there no adjustable cam gears for this engine and the closest ones that are near identical looks like to be 2JZ cam gears. So another option is to use the 63/64 timing belt gears and find a timing belt that is roughly 2.5-2.75" shorter with the right tooth pitch/spacing

But you do not need adjustible cam gears if your using a G4JS block for any reason so why worry about it. That and if your using a 4G64 block you have to use evo gears anyways.
Yeah I ran into that dilemma awhile back with the t belt having a pitch and width similar to the 4g15 and hyundai beta engine timing belt. But overall the g4js is an upgrade version of the 4g64 in almost every way.

I have a few questions. Just how close are the two bottom ends? If I had an Eagle crank or something, would it work in the block? Same questions for rods and pistons. I'm trying to find a forged piston that has the same static compression as the factory G4JS pistons. However, no one lists the compression ratio based off of hyundai heads, just 63 or 64 heads.

any aftermarket pistons for the 64 will be about an one point drop in compression when use with a G4JS head.

One point, or point 1? If the JS head and pistons are 10:1, should I be looking for pistons marked as 11:1 with the SOHC 64 head?

1 point as in evo 10.5:1 pistons are about a 9.5/9:1 CR with the JS head. The JS head combustion chamber is about 10cc's more than the evo head. If that info is wrong then please correct me.

Decking the JS head my solve the low comp problem if using lower comp pistons....
