Stock specs for the Cossie cams are 107/113, with a LSA of 110 deg. On paper, this makes for a good street setting with decent idle.

Retarding the exhaust cam to -4 changes things to a 107/105, with a LSA of 106 deg, which is too tight for these cams.

Retarding the exh cam to -2 changes things to 107/109, with a LSA of 108, which should be a bit better than the previous setting.

FWIW, more peak power should be attainable by returning the exh cam to the -4 setting, and retarding the intake to -2.

nice findings mate!

solid gains!

cant wait to see the dynographs and i want to see how the powerband moved!!!

probably i will do my own testing too when i come back from vacation... i was pretty sure that we could find gains on the adjustment on the exhaust cam...

these tests show that we could benefit even more if we had MIVEC on both cams....

Um, MIVEC IX Ted.

Unless of course you are speaking of MIVEC programming. One still cannot achieve -2* on MIVEC intake unless you install the gear one tooth off and adjust MIVEC accordingly. LOL

Ah ok, it's a IX.

I like the idea of MIVEC, but the 107 deg int LC on this cam set is a bit too far advanced for best power. An adjustable int cam gear would be useful with MIVEC, just for getting a desirable static preset. Assuming MIVEC has enough control, the one-tooth-off substitute may hold some merit.

Mustang Dyno reads anywhere from 10-17% lower than a DJ depending on each dyno (low MD and high DJ) or vice versa.

Whats the most you can advance/retard the intake cam with the mivec?

On a mustang dyno that left untouched at its factory setting, you are right.

But you failed to understand that CFT's mustang dyno is known to read close to a dyno jet with a 5-6% difference (lower)

Anyway, you know the CFT dyno doesn't read 15% lower, so don't try that again. Just be happy with your numbers as they are and go prove it at the track. You wouldn't want to trap less than 115 and then have to start making excuses. Go out and trap 118-119 like you claim the other cars did with the same numbers. That would be very impressive.
I would kinda hope he traps higher than that 118 to 119... heck I did that with 290 to 295whp on Buschurs dyno before the 35r.

Nice. So what would that translate to in dynojet numbers?
