How to remove door panels...help!
how come people can't seem to respect other people's vehicles...i mean wth...sons of *****es!...some miscreant opened his stupid *** truck door into my evo passanger side door
...i got most all the ding out, aside from the scratch in the clear coat and a small variation in the metal...if i could just get behind it in the door panel i could smooth the rest out....i cant seem to get my door panel off tho...i don't want to mar anything or break any connectors, so i figured i'd come here and ask how to remove the door panels in the evolution...
can someone please help!
thanks!
eric
OK.....screw in the door handle cup....screw in the arm rest cup....screw on the far right and far left of the door trip covered by a cap....pull from the bottom of the door to release the clips....release the plugs from the switches and your home free.
ok thanks man!
i was thinking that's how it worked, but i didn't want to go pulling too hard and not know for sure...also, i wasn't pulling from the bottom i was trying to start the detatchment from the sides...it wasn't working out too well that way...hehe
i'll give this a shot...if you got anymore tips...i'm all ears...i'll give this thread a few hours before i give it another go...i need some cooling off time...RARR! i can't freaking BELIEVE people...i mean damn!
have a little respect for other people's stuff...i have NEVER accidently dinged someone's stuff...

Make sure to get the screw behind the removeable triangular plastic piece on the inside of door where the mirror mounts.
Once you pull the plastic ribbed retainers loose along the bottom and sides, slide the panel upwards to remove it, as the top edge wraps over top of the inner door panel.

well...i got it like 99% out...its that remaining 1% thats driving me nuts...the only thing you can see now is a couple small spots where i worked the metal behind the dent...i dunno if i can live with it or if i should see if a paintless dent remover guy can do a little better...bah...

I'm always worried about that, not having any molding on the side. I won't park anywhere near other cars but seems like someone will park next to me in the back of the parking lot. I'm really afraid i would lose it on someone if i saw them open up there door on my evo.
I feel for u man.

i know i would lose it if i saw it...i'm still so pissed...4 weeks i've had the car...i don't care how much it costs, i'm getting it fixed...i mean its ok now...but its not 100%...and it'll bug the hell out of me unless i get it back to 100%...
oh well, it'll get fixed...its just hell having to wait till tuesday for my paintless dent repair guy to come back to repair dents...he makes his rounds in the area...and with the holiday...RAR! waiting 5 more days sucks...
ALL DOOR DINGERS SHOULD BE HORSE WIPED IN THE STREET!!

I agree.... when I park my Lancer I park out in the boonies of the parking lot and if I ever caught someone ding my door I'd lose it too......and if I ever came back to my car with the door dinged and the person car next to it......I won't even mention what I'd do, lets just say I'd thank them for the ding by leaving them a message across there hood.
i got all the dent out...but now you can tell that i manipulated the metal behind...i mean, you can tell if i say where to look...its really not bad at all...but its driving me CRAZY!! hehe...grrr...i just hope they dont have to repaint to get it closer to 100%...its real close now...i just want it a tad better is all...i have good hopes they can do it...but if it has to be repainted, so be it...i feel like i have a responsibility to the evolution and the person who will get it after me to keep it in pristine shape...thats just me tho...i'm sure most of you guys are the same...
Hell I gotta normal OZ and I treat it like a Evo. I have had my car a year and like 4 months and have managed to stay ding free. I park super far away. The only bad thing that happened is my back bumper got smacked at like 5 mph. I need to get the rear bumper fixed when I get a damn day off.
sorry to hear...i can barely see my kinda sorta warped metal and it's driving me insane...its dangerous out there...hehe...and goin down the road...man...everytime i see an 18 wheeler or especially a dump truck or cement truck...i get tight...hehe...i can just see this walnut sized rock flying up and glancing off my hood directly into my windshield...*cringe*oh man...that day is gonna suck if it ever happens...
