EVO Green, 93 octane, 30 psi of boost and a dyno chart

My brother, Daniel, has been running around daily in his EVO for quite some time. We had the car running on E85, then 93, then 94 etc. etc. This particular car we bought wrecked, fixed it and he drives it non stop.

The car is equipped with our Stages 1-4, race FMIC, 780cc injectors, AEM EMS, drop in pistons and rods (used set we had here) the head is stock, intake manifold and TB are stock, has a custom header I built for the stock style turbo, SS 02 housing and two bullet mufflers and HKS 280 cams.

He doesn't want to run race gas in the car. Just wants it to be as fast as possible all the time.

So we dialed the boost in at 30 psi and started tuning it on 93 octane. The car has made a best before of 340 whp/340 torque and has run 11.7 at 121 mph.

Today the car made 377 whp and 380 ft lbs of torque, all on ONLY Shell 93 octane and running 30 psi.

Check out the dyno sheet, it's quite impressive:

BTW, my brother Daniel, who owns the car, did most of the tuning himself. He's been interested in learning the AEM and after about 4-5 hours of instruction last night he has a decent handle on it. We tuned it on the road last night and loaded it on the dyno this afternoon. The tune was spot on, we just wanted to verify if it was making good power.

As I was trying to make the point in another thread about the Green making power, it is all about the parts combination and the tuning......

Enjoy.

V-Power gas is great. Helped my friends BMW check engine dissapear. Great gas, I drive the extra 4 city blocks out of my way past mobile to get shell. They also got this high class gas station, unbeleivable. O and if you pay cash you get a 0.05 discount off each gallon.

This is the 2nd thread of a Buschur tuned car pushing this much boost on pump. Aside from these motors being built, is it safe to say that on turbos such as the green and gt series, that really don't wake up until 25lbs +, is it best to tune them for high boost and be more conservative with timing to make power?

And people think im crazy when i run 25psi everyday on only Shell 93.

30psi nice!

My car starts to get a bit noisy at 25psi so i leave it there.

David, that curve and numbers are very similar to my own! I really wish I had the larger injectors when you tuned my car to see what more it could do.

Shell 93 V-POWER is absolute nasty stuff. I love it.

I recently ditched my Hallman and went to the stock BCS. I threw in a JDM MAP and started playing around... I've spiked 29 psi with 3° of timing and 11.7 AFR with NO KNOCK!

I'm re-tuning for a steady 25psi though, 29 just scares me

Is the car a freak of nature or is it just being pushed to its limits? I'm a lil confused because this in not typical.

this just means he's running a conservative timing map

i.e. if i'm running 22psi on 93, lets say i run about 13-14 degrees of timing on the high end, now if i'm running 30 psi, i would prolly say about 7-9 degrees of timing would be safe

now this is all theoretical, i'm by no means saying this is exactly what david's bro runs, this is just an example to help you comprehend whats going on here

yeah but if you followed that scenario, you'd be pulling so much timing that would negate any benefit of running 30psi on 93 octane only....maybe im missing something fundamental here, but the gospel seems to be that on a stock compression motor, on 93 octane only, 24-25psi seems to be the max.

its all in the tune and how dave plays around with the timing.
