sirlancelot, you cannot compare your numbers to the numbers we make here. Our dyno reads VERY low. If your ever in the area stop by and dyno your car, you'll see.
I don't talk about bad gas much, you are correct. I do run into it quite often. We end up draining the fuel tanks and re-filling them or leave it as it is if it is a fuel the customer is going to end up buying regularly anyway.
David Lowe's car doesn't have more mods than Dan's car, they are close to equal. David Lowe's car also was fairly knock prone, back to what I said about every car being different. David made 415'ish on pump/alky. I did not tune David's car at 30 psi on straight pump, it wasn't possible.

citgo seems to be the only cheapy... i did a very aggresive tune for pump gas using shell since every1 claims its was the best and did a bunch of logs with other brands and the only one that knocked was citgo... it was like 3-4 knock... no biggie.. i never went to another citgo after i used up that gas to test to confirm it...
Don't be so quick to blame gas... Datalog your car and find out exactly what's going on. Also, poor launches are the biggest cause for poor times.
Ive done hours of data logging and I can not extract anymore power out of it without getting 4+ counts of knock. Im working off of a base map from TTP. It makes perfect sense, my shifting is only taking .07 seconds when I logged my track runs so my driving is certainly not seriously lacking. Even with my mediocer 1.8 launch I still should have ran faster then 12.8@106mph (lower then expected trap as well)

Timing on a standalone seems to be the thing that makes this possible.
I don't care how tolerant evo ix's are, no way you can run 30psi on 93 octane on a flash without blowing the damn thing up.
but as db has pointed out, its not possible to do this on a flash, only on a standalone.
Dave, good numbers but I'd think we should warn people about one thing.
Although with good tuning you can get away running high boost on pump gas, it's not always safe nor would I recommend it to everybody. I've played this game many times before and made well 500whp on 93 octane on a 35R (27psi). Detonation is not an on off switch, there are varying degrees of detonation. Even with high speed internal logging on AEM you cannot always catch it nor distinguish it from background noise. A built engine will tolerate slight detonation for quite some time, but eventually it will cause damage. I've used knock amplifiers and actually listened to engine noise, read plugs under a magnifying glass and all the usual things to detect knock. Unless we're running in cylinder high speed pressure analysis then we can't be 100% sure we're not detonating.
This is for everyone to know, just be careful when tuning for high boost on pump gas! There comes a point of diminishing returns where reducing timing, adding boost & fuel and you wil make less power and your in-cylinder temps will go way up. Also you can't always rely on the factory knock sensor. I've actually heard audible detonation before without the factory knock control being triggered.
Dave, us and other knowledgeable shops and individuals can push a tune pretty far but I would highly recommend against it unless you're 100% sure of what you're doing.
