I agree with David on the whole "where you get the gas" issue. . .

I filled up with 93 V-Power from Shell yesterday (about $.10 more than Exxon or Mobil 1 here locally) before I had Sean Ivey tune, and well, you can see from the numbers below, I'm sure had I had crappier gas, I wouldn't have been so lucky. . .

Shell or bust for me now. . .

+1, I have noticed around here (NW Ohio area) my car "feels" better when I run Shell's V-power 93 oct. over Sunoco's 94 oct. Better milage per tank, etc. Will find out next time I get the car on the dyno to see if knock counts are lower.

When having Al Custom flash my car on BR's dyno a few weeks ago (with sunoco 94 in the tank), Al said he was seeing some counts of knock and asked what fuel I was using. Another friend with a very simialr setup to mine also had the same experience when running sunocos 94. oct and getting flashed on BR's dyno.

And, yet another friend with a similar setup, had Al custom flash his car at BR's shop running Shell 93 oct., and had virtually no knock at all. Sorry if I don't make soo much sense as I just had surgery 30 some hours ago and am still on heavy narcotics

Cliff notes: 3 BR stage 4 cars custom flashed on BR's dyno, 2 with sunoco 94 showed higher knock counts, while 1 running shell's v-power 93 oct. didn't. However, we are not running 30pse either....

For me, it's Shell for now on. Even in the Wife's Expedition , just my $0.02

Very odd about the Shell 93 vs the Sunoco 94. I generally consider the Sunoco 94 octane the absolute best fuel in the area.

It's been a few years now but use to be the Shell station here in town's gas was freaking horrible. I seem to remember them getting into some trouble and they had to replace the fuel tanks as they were contaminated with water.

Until recently (last few weeks) I never used the local 93 here at Shell because of my memories from years back. I will have to keep an eye on the fuel for awhile, maybe it is better.

That's what I always thought as well. However after my experience (first time on a dyno too I might add), and my two buddies, I'll be running Shell.

On my old 00 Civic Si (CAI only), I always got better gas mileage with V-power over sunoco's 94 too. However, I'm not sure that getting better mileage also means it's necessarily going to be less knock prone either. Maybe my super powerful VTEC motor just liked it better as is was throwing down Mad powers Yo! Sorry, I couldn't resist

As for my statements in my first post, this is all based on my experience, and word of mouth from two buddies of mine. I am no expert, and I have no clue which is actually better. Sorry for the disclaimer, just not looking to get flamed.

Also, not trying to thread jack. Dan's numbers are Very impressive. You guys never cease to amaze me with these cars. Now I need to save up some Green to get a Green

Oh and David, want to do a little test on the fuel?
