Or even more so, if I was to use a 42r with this engine, could I safely rev to 9600rpm?

i have put a 8500 rev limit on our kit. you can twist it to 9k as the piston speeds would be in the 5500fpm range about the same as a 2.3 at 8300... the quality of the parts is there to turn it that hard. i just wont say do it ever day if your running out 4th in the quarter than fine. road racing it i wouldnt turn it that high nore will you need to.

at 9600 rpms piston speeds would be over 6000fpm that is about the same as reving a 2.3 to 9100 or a 2.0 to 10200..... i will not be suggesting that as it is pretty much WARP Speed as far as the pistons are concerned.

Sooooooooooooo does anybody know what all an individual would need for their own 2.2 build? Short of the 94 mm crank?

The more you learn and understand about what you're looking for for your particular set-up, the more it will be clear which is the best for your application. There may be bad out there, but typically, "best" is in the eye of the beholder.

crank, rods and pistons.... rods can be stock length or custom C-of-C like ours. and piston pin placement must be changed.

If you want the ultimate DSM/Evo motor I'd do this;

4g64 block
94mm crank
159mm rods
2.3L pistons (from the 100mm stroke 2.3L, +6mm pin height)

It would technically be a 2.3L, but it would have a rod ratio almost as good as the stock 2.0L.

It would be expensive with all the custom parts, but if your willing to take a chance, it looks great on paper.

If it were my money however, I'd just go with GSC and call it a day.

Wont work. if you do the math on the ring land pin placement its pretty tight with a 159mm rod.

AltezzaBob pistons are CP rods are ours.

He now uses Crower rods and JE pistons running at 740lbs/ft.
What exactly did Norris break? The Jun rods themselves or the rod bolts or what?

Just curious...
