If you noticed the year to year changes that Mitsu made to the cars sold in America you would have found changes to the clutch which were intended to, in Mitsu's words, cut down on vibration.

I have that exact Creader from eBay. I love it as it clears annoying codes without fuss, but I STILL GET FREEWAY CRUISING P0300 CODES WITH THE ENGINE STUDDER. This isn't a FIX, it is only masks the CEL light.

I'm sorry to hear that.. I guess each situation is somewhat different.. I had the same exact issue and I don't get any misfire/studder at all when leaving the creader plugged in.

My experience with the Creader wasn't quite as singular as Jedi Gill's. The first time I got the P0300 code with the Creader in the port it didn't do a thing. When I got home I had to clear the codes (I always got double P0300 codes when they occurred) with my regular scan tool. I nearly threw the Creader away at that point.

But I decided to give it one more try. On the next road trip I got the CEL and studder, then after about five seconds the code cleared and the car resumed running normally. That was two years ago, the Creader has never been out of the port since and I've never had another code.

Since the Creader is doing something we don't understand and I'd suggest it is something that even the maker doesn't intend for it to do, it is kind of hard for me to say what Smogrunner's problem is. I remember owners of second generation DSMs running around with regular scan tools plugged in all the time to prevent codes back when. Some interaction between the Creader and the ECU creates this solution when it occurs.

So does this just stay plugged in?

Features says:
Reads fault codes for the power train system.
The fault codes of the power train system will be automatically cleared after being displayed three times.

What if you are actually getting a code?

my expierences with the Creader were nothing but a hassel. fist thing i did was buy this thing from a local store. pluged it in and watched it say nothing but...

E LAUNCHING - - - -

so i left it in and still kept repeating the same phrases.

so then i exchanged the creader for another creader, in hope the first one i had was broke or something. NOPE!!!!!!!!! same thing.

so i was courious and left it in on the way to the gym. didnt clear the code, didnt read anything other than.....

E LAUNCHING - - - -

so i was pissed off. i went to the local auto parts store, cleared the code, and went on my way. at this point i have no idea what to do. should i plug the creader in again and see if the code comes back or not? should i return it and wait for a more definit solution? im really going insane. its every second start up that i get this ****ing code.

O.K.

A quick question, with the creader plugged in, do you ever complete your obdII readiness tests, if not it is just clearing codes as they pop up.

You will not pass an OBDII inspection (Georgia for one is an OBDII inspection state) if you never complete the readiness checks.

If the code rarely pops up you may be ok. If you code like I used too.... every time I reset the ecu it would set the pending p0300 before the drive cycle ever completed... you will not be able to pass an inspection and the creader will not get you anything other than a non functioning check engine light.
