Speak to the guys that built my unit as they are an Engineering house for BW and the other manufactures as well so you at least get an un-biased opinion. Mine is a hybrid piece using the latest ETT technology wheels, plus they combine it with some new castings.

www.FI-engineering.com

Here is one of there new hybrid ETT 80's with their new 96A/R race cover. Unheard of making this kind of power out of a 80mm and boost only. Engine is only a 2.0 and AWD on C16.

DAM you beat me to it! lol these turbos really do seem to shine. i think cos they are hybrids FI can take all the best bits and make them work. just a shame BW cant come out with a BB core!

The cossy above looks amazing! have you got any more info on it??? FI wont give up any details yet!

be nice to see what a 2.3ltr Evo could do with one of these EET FI 80mm units (think they are baged the FI80X units). also they offer smaller turbos. maybe something like a 70 or 72 mm unit would also be very nice. better spool than a 42R but still good at the top end.

thanks CHris.

Ha, you beat me to it this time. In Jan. they are making me the FI70 with BB. Unit uses the latest ETT wheels with better turbine wheel and BB core and is packaged alot smaller then the 3XX and 4XX series units. I can not wait to get it here plus they plan to build all the smaller units from 58mm -70mm in BB and use the ETT wheels. I have a proto. version of the FI70 non-BB and its awesome. I have ridden in a GT4294R EVO and my unit spools faster, makes a touch more power at the same basic boost levels and is packaged smaller.

You will be suprised indeed as they spool decent un-modified and very fast when internally modified. The guys that built my unit used the BWA race cover which is the same as the one Bullseye uses (.66A/R), and they then swapped to the new "96" race cover they came up with and with the 80mm ETT wheel gained a touch over 75 wheel hp and mid-high boost range and almost 120 wheel hp on high boost.

I tried, but apparently the car that they are sponsoring is a test bed of some sort and the customer and owner do not want to go public with it yet till next year. I'm sure its for marketing reasons. One of the turbos they sent to them looked unreal. Had some weird stuff done to the compressor wheel and the unit had zero part numbers on it. It looked like a BWA CHRA, but had a billet backing plate, which I don't think any of the 3XX and 4XX come with removable backing plates.

sorry mate! lol

i have heard alot of the V8 guys singing and dancing about these FIxx turbos. they seem to be very intresting units. be nice to see the smaller stuff come out. might make an intresting alternative to say a GT35r or even Gt30r. just need the turbo kit makes to read these threads and get some testing done (AMS, full-race, etc, etc).

does anyone know if you can get twinscroll housings for these turbos??????

CHeers Chris.

Yes they gave me the choice of twin scroll , undivided, On-center and even GN housings.....lol and the A/R's went from about a .58A/R to a 1.2A/R and everything in between for all the units from the 58mm to 70mm ETT. Also gave me the choice of a few turbine wheels.

Apparently these new units are to BWA what PTE has been to Garrett. Only ETT wheels will rock the house down!

how much bigger in actual size are the FI-X units oveer the S units?? just wondering if someone could fit a S80 in an Evo withour having to cut it up too much. i think i heard the S80 are about on par with the older T88s....that meens about 1250bhp!!!

also what would be the equivelent FI-X units to say a GT30r, GT35r & GT40r???

finally, have i got Ett right in thinking that it allows you to use a less restrictive turbine because it has a larger surface area than normal (this means for less presure you the same power out of the turbine)??

thanks Chris.

I haven't heard anything specific, but the FI-X units are suppose to be similar to the GT47 and GT55 in size. I believe that is bigger then a S-series unit.

As for the T88's, I have never dealt with one of those, but the new S80 ETT's from FI are making some seriously big power #'s. They seem to have found the sweet spots on the units indeed.

I asked them about the GT30's, GT35R's and GT40R's and the standard FI series like the FI56, FI58..etc are going to be the direct competitors to it. The FI-91X''s and all the way up to FI-100X should be a beast for the V8 guys though.

Alot of boards I see, I see people using FI a good bit. They are an engineering house for all the major turbo companies so that probably helps since you at least get an un-biased opinion on the turbos, instead of someone that only sells 1 brand telling you its the best....

Either way mine has been flat out awesome and I am itching to try the Ball bearing version of the FI-70BB. Should be pretty sweet.

SmokinU did you have to use a shorter rad to get it all to fit in?? it would be great if FI could come out with some FI-X or even just ETT S units that would fit without having to cut up the car.

cheers Chris.

My unit is no bigger then a standard T-netics or PTE-70. Same basic chassis......

My guess is this is all new castings using ETT technology wheels, cause everything is billet, where all standard BWA units have always been all cast iron backings, and bastard sizing.
