Hmm I originally wanted a green turbo... However I can get a slightly used ATP 3037 kit for under a grand... Do you think it is worth it? Is the spool that bad? Keep in mind I am running E85 so I should be able to run 26-28psi... Again I would never do this if it wasn't such a good price.

Question

ok I've read this whole thread and now am quite confused. There are some people here making a lot of HP (400awhp range) on stock turbo and simple bolt ons. Here is my setup and I only dynod at 300awhp...What is the deal?! How can I be at 300 and others are at 400 with similar mods:
2006 EVO IX
1: Tubular Exhaust manifold upgrade.
2: 3 inch exhaust all the way to the STOCK o2 downpipe (no cat)
3: Halman manual boost controller set at 21psi
4: Pulsestar spark plugs
5: custom tune by www.Camtuning.com.

I dynod at 300AWHP on 91 octane. How are people so close to 400awhp? The only thing that I see that is different from other setups is that I have the stock O2 downpipe. If I switch that out how big of a differnce will that be? My tuner said that my stock injectors were almost at 80%. I was about to go for a GT3071 or evogreen until I read all of these posts. I'm looking for quick light to light racing and fast spoolup. Now people are mentioning the 3065 turbo. I think that I'm much more confused than when I started reading from page 1. (the sensless bickering is tiresome, but to join in on the fun I am a process engineer and am dept free (except for house and EVO payment). I'd hate to have that debt of the doctor to be...yuck). Any way lets get this post more informative for those of us trying to keep up and decide what do to next...

For one you are in 91 octane. You don't have too many bolt ons. Cams would help out your car a little more, intercooler, ported manifold, and an 02 housing. Normally would get you to 330whp. Some have higher due to a better tune.

revmoto,

i dont see how you dyno'd 370whp on stock cams and 93...

i have basic bpu, turbo xs intercooler hks mivec cams, upgraded hardpipes, 93 pump gas tune @ 21 pounds of boost dyno'd at 363/363 tuned by ams.

is your car some type of factory freak, high reading dyno, or very aggressive pushing the limits type of tune.

Im not bashing you. Pondering minds just want to know.

Well it is a little bit on the freak side. I have a bad *** manifold on my car too that I don't see in your mod list nor an 02 housing. I can assure you that my tune is better. It is not pushed to its limits either just more tuning time. I am also on 24lbs.

I have a ported stock manifold, and a megan o2 housing i forgot to list.

I was tuned on the easy side due to a oil pressure problem that is now fixed.

Also my local gas station is 10% ethanol on the 93 pump that might show some type of negative affect i dont know for sure.

Im gonna return with better gas and try to get a retune for 23-24 pounds.

debating on meth aswell.

To be honest we didn't expect my car to dyno this high. I compared manifolds and did logs and so far I have to give credit to the manifold and the freak my car is.

Yeah I'd like more info on the lag of the 3076 as well. After reading all this, I am seriously considering the ETS HTA3076 turbo kit. Looks like quite the bang for the buck with low lag (if that is true of course).

My ix with stock turbo and mild cams dynoed at 340 whp on a Mustang dyno. I run 116mph in the 1/4. That might be a better indication of power. Your quarter mile trap.

Revmoto's post indicates 372whp and 116 trap speed. That should give you an idea of dyno variances. Don't put too much weight on dyno's. How does the car run? Take it to the track.
