Drop in air fitler

What are the options for a drop in air filter on the stock airbox. I know of K&N but are there any other better ones? I know there was a better one; custom made for my now sold M3 but is there such a thing for an EVO VIII?

There are some design differences, but quite frankly, I doubt you'll notice. The K&N has dyno'd to give 3-5 peak whp. Another one might gain you 1-2whp. You're better off skipping that beer

why waste time with a drop in just get a whole intake? well thats my opinion, but if you do wanna drop in they dont differ much between k&n, works etc..

I don't know what a "fitler is" J/K I have the k&N drop in filter. After I put it in, the car felt a little smoother when accelerating and power felt smoother too across the RPMs. There's a whole bunch of drop in filters, just gotta look.

What I have seen is that unless you are going to a bigger turbo there is no big noticeable advantage of having a full intake as oppose to having a good drop in. Am I correct or not? I only plan to do a 3 inch TBE, MBC or EBC, drop in filter and tuning. Will I see a real life difference by using a full intake?

I just purchase a completely bone stock 2004 EVO VIII with 14K miles. Even the tires are stock.

Check out AFE air filters. They are similar to K&N, but of a much higher quality. I'm not sure if they make a drop-in, but its worth a look.

*edit* I just checked and AFE does not make a drop-in for the Evo.

You are correct on the drop-in, stock box is good up to around 400 whp. Save you money and something else for the car..

Just curious, how do you know its good up to around 400hp? Is there some kind of test someone did or is it just something you've seen? Just wondering, not trying to be an a-hole or anything.
