To o-ring or not to o-ring that is the question
Stock HG with copper .040 wire about .006 protrusion. 18ga copper wire.
I have not seen many DSM or EVO guys go copper hg If you did you would cut a reciver grove in the head and run a SS wire in the .010 range.

Well lets start with the words lifting the head. Your head does not clean lift of the block. If that was the case you would find the carbon trail across the surface. What happens is when you have a combo of things going on like imperfect head and or block surface with a metal head gasket and weak studs you get under heavy load combined with some det you twist the block and head enough to let the high pressure of the combustion chamber pass the gasket . You will commonly see it by a pressurized coolant system. It does not lift or should we say twist enough to have the coolant and oil mix in most cases. Tell a real motor builder that you lift your head and see how they react even a fueler(5000+hp) guy . To sum it up if you prep the surface properly you will not need to o ring for any boost or hp(1000+).
What about cometic gaskets.
People are using them to go 6's in the mustang world and they are all the rage among turbo hondas.
they are supposed to be as good or better than o-ringing the head..
