Head O-Ringing???

Is there any advantages or disadvantages to O-ringing the head instead of the block?

The proper way is to o-ring the block and machine a matching reviever groove into the head. Using stainless wire and a copper gasket, when the head is torqued the copper material will be forced up into the reciever groove. Using copper wire or just machining the head is a waste of time.

We have used the copper o-ring on the block with no problems. All the way up to 55psi. I also know other shops that run record times that use the copper o-ring on the block with a factory head gasket with no problems

Waste of time

interesting opinion

I have been running o-rings in my head and / or block at the direction of Buschur without any recieving groove with the STOCK head gasket to 55 psi of boost and have not had one bad head gasket issue to date
