Bolt-ons for 350 whp?

I'm building my car to race in SCCA BSP class for autocross and I'm looking to get around 320-350 whp. I'll be running the stock ECU and a GM 3-port for boost control. Here's what I'm trying to figure out:

BSP allows intake, IC piping, intercooler, exhaust manifold/header, TBE. No internal work and no turbo/wastegate changes. How much of that stuff is necessary to make my power goal?

How much boost can I run on the stock head studs and gasket?

You should be really close if not at your goal of 350 with the bolt-ons allowed for this class...again, as always, that depends on the dyno. Obviously a test pipe on the TBE will insure better gains.

That's what I'm asking. I know I can get there with all of them. Can I get there with just a TBE? TBE and IC piping? I've heard the stock intake is fine until you're up around 400 hp. Just looking to tap the tribal knowledge out there.

full intake, ic piping, FMIC, TBE w/ no cat, ported stock exhaust manifold, ported hotside, SS o2 housing, ported intake manifold and ported TB. GM BCS is a good choice. If your rules allow you to do cams, do cossies, otherwise the above list should get you where you want to be. 350whp is a vague number, since all dynos are different.

You can run as much boost as your fuel will support, there usually is not enough cyl pressure from the stock turbo to lift the stock headstuds. Just shoot for about 24psi on pump gas and you will be dandy.

Don't forget to upgrade your suspension....

TBE + a good tune (using stock ECU boost control) should put your IX around 330whp at like 23psi on pump 93 gas. IC piping and intercooler will add a little whp to that, but will really help more to avoid heat-soak after repeated laps.

Adding an open filter intake and an O2 housing will put you around 340-345whp after tune.

Without cams, you need all of the bolt-ons you've listed to reach 350whp + a somewhat aggressive tune.

With cams and all bolt-ons, you're looking at 355-360whp with better top-end than stock cams...

Good luck.

Definitely ditch the stock intake, it will be a restriction for you.

Well you said stock ecu so I'm not sure if you're allowed to flash your ecu or not. But for a IX, a TBE and Flash ECU should get you pretty close to that figure on 93 oct.

I don't know for sure if you'll get 350 whp with just bolt on without the ECU retuned.

Should have clarified that. Stock ECU hardware + ECUFlash. I'll be controlling boost with a GM 3-port through the stock ECU, so I can make any boost level the wastegate can hold.

Heat soak isn't a big deal. Autocross is a 60 second sprint, then you get to go to grid and spray down the intercooler.

Cams are a definite no-no. Can't port the hotside. I don't think I can port the TB, but I'd have to check on that one.

Thanks for the help guys. Sounds like I can get there without spending too much money.

And yes, the suspension is well planned out at this point. That's where all the money is going.

So can you flash the ECU?

Well without a flash ECU, you're gonna get your biggest gain from the TBE and probably your LICP if you're getting one.

If you're going to keep your stock intake, the drop in cartridge won't give you that much gain and at that power level, you don't need the Intercooler upgrade. But you should get an upgraded fuel pump.

He said he can use ECUFlash on the ECU in that first sentance

Yes, I can flash the ECU.

I thought the IX fuel pump was good for well over 350 hp.

Fuel pump will be fine.

TBE (no cat), intake filter and good tune with upped boost will get you very close to 350whp on a dynojet. Gonna depend on the tune though.
