Getting A Green
what's up guys. i promised myself i would stop modding my car for a few years, but i just can't help it. i'm hoping to get a green within the next few months. i'm also planning on getting a Snow Performance Meth Kit, upgrading my injectors, new clutch/flywheel, Works or Buschur throttlebody, and porting my intake/exhaust manifolds. would i need anything else when i upgrade to the green? my car is gonna be a dd and i hope to take it to the drag strip/track every once in a while. would the AMS 680cc injectors be sufficient for my mods? is upgrading the throttlebody and porting the manifolds worth doing? how much can i increase the PSI with the meth kit on 91 octane? i'm not sure if the stock clutch can hold this much hp so i'm not sure if i should wait till it starts slipping or just change it even if it's still good.
That's like 4 grand worth of mods!!!
I think I would do the meth kit and clutch first then decide if you want more.
Otherwise you have all your bases covered as long as you have the wallet for it.

u shouldnt need new injectors if you are going to be running Meth....and i agree with the Jeff, try the meth on stock turbo and see if you like it....you should be able to run 24/26 PSI with the meth depending on what mixture and tune you get

haha i'm hoping to spend 3k or less. i dont want my car to be down for a month or two so i'm gonna buy a new green and sell my stock 9 turbo. i can do all the installs myself (except the clutch). i'm just not sure if i wanna do the throttlebody and ported manifolds unless it's truly worth it.

We run Buschur 680's (PTE) and hit up to 92% duty cycle. Absolutely, if you're doing the work yourself, port the intake manifold and pay the 300 or so for the 65mm TB. Also, port the exhaust manifold, or get one already ported. Stock manifold will be fine up to 450-500 whp when it's ported. The porting is very little work for the continued gain as you modify other parts. Port the Green and don't just 'match' it. Do it right and use inside mics. Good luck and welcome back to the 'mod' world.

We're all noob's. Some of us just don't like admitting it.

Don't waste your money on a green if you already have a IX. You can easily make over 400whp on your stock turbo. I wouldn't waste my money on a larger throttle body with your setup. Just get a clutch, meth(100%) and a good tune. Porting your manifolds is a good choice too. After that if you still think you want to go faster then go to a larger turbo. The green is good going from an 8 turbo but on a IX it is just worthless. Anyone who says it is hasn't maxed out their stocker yet.

Doing it for under 3k would be a nice trick. I hope you don't cheap out on the clutch.
I'm not sure I would push for the green and without the green you really don't need injectors. People are seeing absolutely sick performance from high boost and meth on the stock 9 turbo. I'm not sure what kind of racing you do but for spirited daily driving the torque from the stock turbo is a real kick in the shorts.
To see pronounced gains with the green you will need an excellent tuner and high boost.
You always see the new green noobs preaching about how great it is but after that you rarely see any outstanding timeslips or any kind recognition (autox awards, ect).
If you really observe the evo community you'll notice that the Green does make more power up top but it does come at the expense of some torque and spool. For a daily driver those items are the most frequently used areas in the powerband. I wouldn't want to give up 20 down low for 20 up top.
Lately alot of people have been randomly posting mixed reviews and its good to pay attention to them. You may see a few post about huge returns on the green but you'll see just as many posts about huge returns on the stock 9 turbo.
I would get the most you can from the stock unit before going bigger.
But if you continue down the aftermarket turbo path you should consider getting the EVO8 4th gear (and possibly 3rd gear) because most of us EVO9 guys run out of gear with the stock turbo. Shifting into 5th kills performance and running to 8k rpm kills motors.
