Advice on Test Pipe

I will be swapping out the cat in my 8
I will be changing out the exhuast in the near future but deciding on a 2.5" or 3" pipevfor now
I am looking at the Megan resonated unit.
Would the 3" be a big issue in terms of flow on my stock exhaust or no biggie in the time being?

One more question, how much louder is a piece of pipe vs a resonated pipe?
I have a 2yr old who I am not trying to influence more by him always saying daddy vroom vroom car, lol

go big or go home. haha

but i would say that a test pipe in place of a cat will yield u about 5-10 hp. it does tent to be a bit louder but i love mine. also u will smell more exhaust fumes if u do go the test pipe route. so be aware.

resonated will be noticably quieter, and def go big or go home, the bigger peipe is way better, the turbo needs to exhale as quick and easy as it can. And if you think it's too loud you're driving the wrong car. Evo's will make you mod happy. Once you get started you wont be able to stop. If you dont think so then find out for yourself, you'll only be limited to the money on hand to slow you down. My opinion if you're concerned about noise, then keep it stock and dont mod the car at all.

Go for the bigger pipe, but I recommend going green and getting a 3" cat. Seriously, comparatively there is almost no loss in power, and its horribly irresponsible to run catless off the track.

You *MIGHT* see a 5-10 hp gain from a clogged stock cat. You *MIGHT* see a 2-3hp difference between a test pipe and a high flow cat on a sub 400hp car. That 2-3hp difference will most likely be a simple variation from run to run, and not actual loss from the cat.

seriously, don't be an r-tard and run a test pipe for the perceived performance gains.

time and time again it has been shown that cars making <500HP with a properly fitted & functioning catalytic converter will gain a minimal (if any) amount of horsepower. the 5-10hp quoted above is just speculation. In reality, it's more like 0-2.

don't be irresponsible, please run a cat.

Thank you for that false information

Buschur and I believe Dynoflash did back to back tests with and without a cat on a bolt-on EVO and lost significant power. A test pipe on a mildly modded EVO will gain 10-15hp over a cat. It's not speculation. I dont know where you just made up that crap you just said, but wow. Completely false.
