I have 2 questions for all you EVO owners..
Just as the title states, I've got 2 questions for you EVO owners.
Trust me I've searched the forums and cannot find any real answers.
1. I've got some adjustable cam gears and they don't have the A for Advance or the R for Retard. I was wondering which way is retard and which way is advance? From what I know, the engine rotates clockwise so that means the cams also turn clockwise. So if I were to turn the gears clockwise (towards the front of the car) that is advance, correct?
2. I've got a Greddy Type-S bov recirculated. Also did the single spring mod and turned the screw in 3 turns. I installed it this winter so I don't know how it runs in the summer. Just wondering if anybody else on here have the same bov and have the same problems as I do. It flutters once in a while (mainly going up hill) and a does this whistle noise as soon as you release the throttle? It doesn't whistle while idling, just a quick whistle when you release the throttle. I think it is just because it's cold out and the seal isn't sealing correctly. But just wanted to see if anybody out there have the same problem.
Thanks in advance for all the help.

Most cam gears have a +/-5 degree settings. Anything positive which would be rotating them towards the front of the car would be Advancing timing. Your should be labeled similar to this.
You may need a new diaphragm. Unless you are running excess boost I would recommend the EVO 9 steel BOV as it is trouble free and holds boost great.

1) Correct.....clockwise is advance, counter clockwise is retard...
2) That whistle is part of the operating sounds of that particular BOV....
The BOV only opens when you are driving....only will it go off at idle when given some gas...

I know there is a whistling noise that sounds kind of like the ssqv but it not like that. it's after the bov closes. right after it closes, a second later this quick and high pitched whistle begins and stops as fast as it started. so only for a split second.
So I would want to turn the gears counter-clockwise to retard? Good thanks!

If thats the case then you diaphragm might just be going out...do yourself a favor and get the Forge RS or APS BOV....these are both quality BOVs and sound good
