Question 500whp on stock rods and pistons?

If you search~ alot on 4g63 engines that blow up are from rod bolts stretching from too much HP.

SO, If I change my rod bolts and head studs can my stock rods and pistons handle 500 WHP?

detonation blows up motors. beating on ur car without proper oil pressure blows up cars.

stock block will wear out after awhile with a good tune from 500whp alone. so if u plan on that much power, rebuild b4 u blow something or break something and have to go over sized because the walls are too scored up to stay with an 85mm bore.

It depends how you drive, if youre doing a lot of racing even rod bolts won't help you. If youre just cruising around an occasionly on it then you dont have much to worry about making 500whp. There are many people on here that have turbo kits on stock motors and have 0 problems. Those tyically arent the guys you see posting up time slips every week though.

Head studs are a must in any car that doesnt use the stock turbo, I would skip on rod bolts. If youre going to do the labor to replace those it would be smarter to get a decent rod/piston drop in kit.

Cheers!

I put 50k miles on my stock block 500+whp car

Drove it 60 miles everyday to work and back with no problems. Raced every weekend on race gas and made a ton of passes down the track.

I had stock rod bolts but did have Head Studs. Def. do head studs

Finally swapped it out with a 2.3

Well I don't drag anymore and I can thank my engine and tranny on my 90 Talon So really I'm done draging. BUT I like to do highway pulls! Also my Evo is not an everyday driver. I dunno what I'm going to do yet as far as internals.

Thanks for all the impute

Rod bolts don't typically stretch from power. They stretch from excessive engine rpms. If you want to rev to 8500rpms on stock bolts, you are taking a risk.

Well that shouldn't be a problem for me because when I'am driving hard I shift at 7500 at the most.
