My AMS 2.3RR 37R Build (pics added on pg8)

Hey guys, few of you know me because I dont really post a whole lot on the boards. Im from Kennesaw, GA. I thought some of you would be interested to see my current build. A little history behind my car...

My last setup was a stock block FP Green with HKS 272s all supporting mods, etc. and meth. I made 405hp/386tq on meth. I was doing a few highway pulls against a friend of mine with a 03 560whp Cobra. I was actually about 1/2 car lenght ahead (believe me or not Im not here to debate it, I have witnesses) and my car just shut off, no breaking, clanking, or any noise at all for that matter. I ended up having my car towed home, no fun whatsoever. After consulting my previous shop, which I will leave unnamed for the time being, and consulting a few other shops, I decided to take the car to Forged Performance. Ive had some work done here before and has been nothing short of perfect. Their labor is expensive, but in my opinion worth it. They work on mostly 350z's and G35's but happen to have a AWD Dynamics Dyno. In short, its a great shop, flawless work, great tuner, etc. My car is currently at the shop undergoing the current build.

I talked to Sharif, the owner of Forged Performance, for a long time and decided the direction I wanted to go in depending on the problem with the motor. After the motor was broken down it was concluded that the cause of my motor shutting down was detonation in one of the cylinders. This was caused by a bad tune on my meth map as my pump map never had the smallest issue. This just made me more secure with my decision to switch shops. We talked about what I wanted to do with the build and came up with quite a rediculous, but awesome setup. The mods that are going on the car are listed below. Oh, and for anyone who thinks this is just a dream setup and that I am not serious, you should know that all the parts have been paid for and ordered, most of the labor has been paid for, so this build is a reality, not just wishful thinking. Here are the mods:

AMS 2.3L RR Motor
AMS Race Ported Head
AMS HTA37R Turbo Kit
AMS VSR Intake Manifold
AMS 1000 HP Fuel System
AMS LICP
AMS Small Battery
AMS L19 Head Studs
AMS 1200cc Injectors
HKS EVC VI Boost Controller
HKS FCon VPro
HKS Mitsubishi Evo 03-04 Harness
HKS Pressure Sensor Super Wide Range
HKS Air Intake Sensor
HKS Intake Air Temp/Pressure Sensor Harness
HKS Intake Air Temp. Sensor Mount 1/8 PT
HKS A/F Knock Amp Black
HKS Cam Gears
Tomei 280/280 Camshafts
Sheppard Transmission Upgrade with Double Sychro 5th, and full ISF
Sheppard Transfer Case
Carbonetics Triple Disc 1350kg PP Evo
Buschur UICP w/ Tial BOV

The hotparts of the turbo kit (turbo manifold, hotside, o2 hosing, and downpipe) will also be sent off to PCI to have a 2000 degree coating put on.

The car previously had all other supporting mods. Ill do my best to keep you guys up to date and post any progress on the build. We started this a few week ago and are pretty much just waiting on parts to start showing up. Im assuming the build will be done sometime in April. Im hoping for some pretty good numbers, but we will have to wait and see what it will be capable of. I may have left some parts out, but I think I got most of them. Enjoy

Good Luck, and if the tuner is who im thinking of your not the first evo they have blown up on meth. I cant decide where to take mine after the t67 install but if you would pm who tuned it it will help make my decision a little clearer. I live like 1.45 hours from atlanta so all those area guys are up for grabs.

I would personally go with the AEM and not the HKS standalone. Save a few duckets.

I can pass emissions with HKS, cant with AEM, plus HKS is easier to use and the car runs better IMO, although Im sure there are hundreds of people out there that would disagree with me.

Nice build up man. If I were you I would not go with the 37R... too laggy for not much more power. Also I'd switch from AMS kit to Buschur's HTA 35R. I run the AMS kit and of course it is nice. But I think you may like the idea of the wastegate being plumbed from the header more than the turbine housing.

Also I have two friends with exploded Carbonetics triples... blasted through the bell housings. I also asked Shep what he thought and he was not fond of those clutches if I recall correctly. I'd go Exedy Triple metal.

Is the HKS Knock thinging only work with the FCON or is it a standalone device?

Also if you want a few extra free ponies you could consider going with an HKS or Jun intake manifold. The HKS mani made more power than the AMS in a test Buschur Racing did recently.

Why is this? Is this because you can hide the programed ECU and it passes close to stock? Just curious if you were passing it by luck or if it is exceptable. Oh yes and second on the standalone question, I thought the Fcon was full programable standalone.

You'll also need a steady diet of race gas and drag radials!

Gott en HIMMEL, I pity the next crustang that lines up next to you.

lol, no I dont live at home with parents or anything. I do however live in an apartment until the end of next year, when Ill be getting a condo. Ya, I dropped a ton on the car, and honestly when I started the project I didnt think it was going to cost as much as it did.
