USA Pump Gas Dyno and Track #'s

Buschur Racing:

So we have Buschur customer car of U2SLO at 620 atw Dynojet, 580 Mustang I think. No track time yet I think. Then we have Trent from Buschur Racing who I think ran a mid to low 10 at the track and I'm not sure what dyno #.

Any other shops have big power on pump?

its hard to believe how much better a dynojet is compared to a mustang. the difference is amazing. i mean right here were talking about 40whp.

There is a huge difference between pump gas on stock engine and pumpgas on like a Buschur stage 3. I think people should understand this for perspective. On a stock bottom end if your pushing it 1 count of knock can do it in, but with a built engine a little detonation might even help the torque.

That is correct my friend... Here's my comparison with my stock evo motor vs my Buschur built motor. Nothing was changed but the motor. Waste gate, turbo, fuel type etc, etc was the same, but was tuned because Buschur motor just flowed so much!

Stock motor

Built motor

Remember, that's on stock exhaust mani, stock IX turbo and just regular 93 octane.

Interesting stuff Lil Rico... but I was hoping we could keep this thread to big pump gas numbers out there. I mean is Buschur the only shop that has made a big number on pump?

crcain, I really did not mean to take the thread off topic, but if I have those gains on a stock turbo and pump gas, when I upgrade to a bigger one, I'm hoping the power and torque will also transition with it as well. When I get a bigger turbo, I'll make sure to post my finding here.

Trent's car has made 525 whp and 400 ft lbs of torque on our MD AWD dyno. This was done on straight Shell 93 octane fuel with NO octane booster, NO nitrous, NO alky, NO race gas.

The cars best ET was a 10.6 at 135 mph, also on straight 93 octane.

The car is a full weight daily driven EVO. The only thing missing from the car to save weight is the front and rear bumper beams. Still has the door beams, air bags, air conditioning etc. Trent drives this car 61 miles ONE way each day to work so minimum mileage per day on this car is 122 miles. The boost is NOT turned down from the 28-30 psi he run daily on 93 octane. To date the car has about 8,000 trouble free miles on it.

The basic build of the car is:

BR Stage 3 shortblock with Crower rods.
BR Stage 3 head with BF272 cams
BR GT35r kit (not HTA)
BR Race FMIC
BR 3" turbo back
BR double pumper
BR i/c pipes and battery kit
Exedy triple cerametalic clutch
Bushwacker Stage 1 trans rebuild
AEM EMS, tuned by me.
HKS DLI2 ignition

Other customers I have tuned to over 500 whp on pump gas are, Marque, Memo, Nick, Peter, Fawaz and Dennis. (I am sure there are more, thought of them quickly) They all have this same basic build listed above.

There really is nothing to doing it. With the right set up it is actually easy and safe.

Nice one DB.

So is it just a matter of time now before other shops join in?

It's amazing to think about the implications this has to the competitive landscape of the aftermarket tuning / parts world for the Evo. I mean go with Buschur, and you get 600 atw on pump. Go to anyone else, and get 450 on a good day.

But this is sort of conjecture. Maybe there is some 500+ pump gas beasts out there? Apart from a Buschur customer car... what is the top 5 pump gas dyno sheets out there?

Its only a matter of time before other shops follow suit with stronger pump gas tunes....then again they might not want to be second behind DB (again). I think if there were more shops doing this, they would have chimed in by now.

The few shops that I have either spoken to or heard comments from do not feel what I am doing is very intelligent. They feel I am a fool for turning cars out of here like this, I've heard they are one pass wonders, dyno queens, unsafe, unreliable and a list of other things.

I've also read one of the other tuners who said E85 is only marginally better than 93 octane and sees no benefit.................I have to thank Keith for getting me off my *** on the E85 two years ago. I didn't want to waste my time and did it more as more of a favor to Keith than anything. Discovered how good the stuff was and it made me one of the first guys to actually use it. The very first time I tuned his car on it was made 505-510 on a stock shortblock in his EVO. The car is STILL running, get's the wheels driven off of it and has never had a problem. Keith went on to do further tuning on his own and has managed to get great fuel mileage out of the fuel too.

Anyway, I hope the rest of the shops stick to race gas

I wish they'd have another Super Four Challenge! We'd freaking completely dominate it.

Sharkbite... I'd love to see you take your car to Buschur for a tune. Would that not be incredible if you did, and picked up maybe 150 atw on pump, and then ran reliably for years? That would be pretty nutz. And also show it's not only Buschur parts that can make big numbers on pump.

More kudos to Dave for being one of the first tuning Evo on E85.

sharkbite, I heard about your "tuning situation" and understand that you can't have me touch it. Looking at your combination though I am 100% confident that I could make atleast another 100 whp on pump gas with your car.
