German Castrol VS Amsoil
That sounds at least like a very good hydro crack, a Synthetic or a synthetic/blend, so it may be..... with the way the law is written, it is hard to tell, especially when all you need is 30% Synthetic to call yourself 100%...
The MSDS I got was off of a site selling Castrol... All I could go by was at the bottom it said German Castrol....
What is needed is someone that knows how to run Trend Analysis as the stuff on BITOG is not much good.. no accurate recordings of critical data.

Sorry, the 0w30 syntec MSDS you are all quoting is the version manufactured in the US by BP Lubricants. It has nothing in common with the German manufactured 0w30, imported and relabeled by Castrol.
The US MSDS is the only MSDS Castrol provides for Syntec 0w30 directly. They make it (or contract its specifications) and so they provide this information. A 'GC' MSDS would have to be sourced by someone with full MSDS database access ($). I don't even know who manufactures the oil over in Germany.

As I stated, it listed the MSDS as the GC... I can't do anymore than read what someone had there. I also posted that what someone else came up with, sounded more realistic for a Synthetic...
MSDS must be made available to the public free of charge, they just make it hard to find and/or hard to read at times.

Let's get a few things cleaned in here. . .
The VOA and educated commentary I've read to date indicates that Mobil 1, and most specifically the HM and EP grades of 0w40 and 15w50, to be very good oils with good additive packages (including good levels of TBN & ZDDP). I see no reason to bash Mobil 1 - definitely a better 'convenience' synthetic.

There are more, these are just a start.
'Boutique' oils always cost more, but aren't always better. Some are, some aren't. Amsoil does make very good products, so take that FWIW.
I change my oil every 3k miles. I don't care what the claimed lifespan is. I'll leave it to someone else to test those claims, but not in my high $$ turbo engines.
Castrol Syntec doesn't even perform as well as some conventional oils. Buy whatever you like, but I won't buy Castrol branded anything, regardless of where it's made.
Lastly, the reason why blends of Grp III and PAOs (Grp IV)are allowed to be advertised as "fully synthetic" since 1999 is because the latest generation of Grp III oils meets or exceeds PAO performance in every area except pour point. AFAIK, PAOs are included in the blends to improve pour point, modify viscosity, etc. It isn't a big scam in an attempt to deceive consumers, but is rather a way to deliver synthetic performance at a reasonable price and with widespread availability. And where the one area is concerned where PAO's are definitely superior (pour point), I never encounter temperatures approaching -45 deg C, so it will never make any difference to me.

I am trying to get this on my web site, but I am no computer Guru... I can't get a PDF to load....
http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g1971.pdf
Before any of the Nay-Sayers have a chance...... These tests were performed by one of the Top Testing Facilities in the US... Not by AMSOIL.

there is no GC in these tests so y bother posting them?
topic at hand, German Castrol. someone see if they can get a contact number, and ill call.
I suppose in a round about way, what I am saying is that, Let's see any testing from Castrol using ASTM tests. Those tests are where the answer is.
As relevant as individuals with Oil Analysis performed without any other data that is needed to support UOA.

Maybe we can contact the german side of castrol or just usa castrol and ask them for any info they have on it.
I bought 20 quarts - 100$ for the win.. I should be good for the next 20K miles.
I will be buying 3 quarts of AMSOIL MTG (tranny), and 1 quart of SVG (rear diff) though when it's time for my 15K service. Will still use Mitsu LSD gear oil for the transfer case.
