Amsoil High zinc 10w-40 is the only thing that should be run in a stock motor evo period.

Great stuff I have 104k on my motor and it has very little wear according to Blackstone Labrotores using this oil. Zero burnt oil too

 

Agreed, Amsoil makes some of the best lubricants on the market. Let's not get carried away with these, 'only' and 'best' oil statments though. I had those same great uoa's on my Evo vIII using RP, for over 150k (no varnish and extremely low wear). I sold that car more than three years ago and still see it on the road occassionally. Amsoil is good stuff BUT! There are lots of great oils out there, some considerably cheaper.

 

Ya, I hear ya. When choosing between a few good oils sometimes that's what it comes down to.

You should also consider Rotella T6 synthetic 5w40. Great oil analysis result and has high zinc content.

Im really interested in seeing some UOA's of Rotella t6, with the 4g63 motor. I havent found any yet.. It seems the subie guys are having great luck with this oil. Its tough, packed with detergents for the long haul, and has great HTHS/ or shear stability scores. Thanks in advance

First UOA listed should be the Rotella T6

 

You guys are right, i've seen that the Subbie community really loves Rotella T6. SOPUS (Shell) has been making or tweaking some fantastic oils over the last 10 years: Rotella T6, Pennzoil Ultra/Platinum and Quaker State UD (sleeper oil that is very inexpensive and returns great results).

mini's been using GC fairly strictly over it's life (before i bought it). oil change is up, will be swapping to amsoil sso 0w30 to see if there are any noticeable changes.

the evo stays strictly on amsoil's zrod 10w30

 

I can definitely say the engine feels slightly smoother going from GC 0w30 to Amsoil SSO 0w30 - won't know about actual protecting strength though

 

Get a UOA if your curious to see if the SSO is doing its job.. The Amsoil SSO 0w-30 is a great oil, probably one of the best.
