The last batch I bought were 274/274 (the same ones in my car) 11.2/11 and 115* centerline on the exhaust cam (I have a IX) The new ones as you pointed out are sposed to be more lift and more duration on the intake but I am not sure on release date. I was hoping to get 2 sets of them but Greg hadnt got billets in when I ordered Oh well I know the 274/274 make great power (also the ones Luke has actually...but for an VIII)

I think this would be it:

intake 278 and exhaust 274 with 11.2mm intake and 11.0mm exhaust lift

Have you used the GSC Beehive springs or are they the same as the FP springs?

.400"= 210 pounds
CoilBind .625"

I use the FP springs currently. I am have not tested the GSC ones yet but I know that they are not the same spring.

If revs are kept under 7500 can stock springs be used on the new VIII S2 grind? I drive like a granny, but like to carry a full clip

Yes and No... Its still alot of lift on the stock spring and over time could be detrimental. Its cheap insurance to at the minimum change out to a beehive spring like the FP's or the GSC springs.

any updates on the gsc S2 cams on a ix? I havn't seen any decent reviews on these cams going into a ix making more power without upping the boost to 25 26 psi.

What boost level were you looking for back to back comparisons against?

I do somewhere, but I believe they are also available on GSC and FP's websites. As I recall (going from memory here) they are 65# seat pressure on the stock springs. The new grinds will be tested later in the year in a few different style and applications.

The 278/274 S2 ("new grind") cams definitely perform. They have been tested in 2 customer cars at various boost levels and both on E85 to get an idea of results. Thomas (EvoTK) put down 439whp at 29psi on a stock turbo and Jim made 546 at 31psi on a Red.

well i have seen a few threads where there were back to back comparisons. Say stock turbo stock cams at 20 psi made 300 hp, then s2s were installed, boost was raised to 25 psi and made 330hp. Obviously power was going to increase with 5 extra psi. I just dont want to spend 1500 dollars on cams, springs, and install and make 15 extra hp. Im already running 25-27 psi. I know your a big advocate on gsc cams so i figured i would ask you because you seem to know them best. 8s make great power increases with cams but i feel like ixs don't see as big of results with them, at least on the stock turbo on 93 octane for a normal bolt on car.

Back to back on a IX at the same boost level (the aforementioned 25psi) I typically see stock cams make somewhere between 330 and 340whp. Add the S2s without increasing boost and I have seen 355-365whp on our dynojet. I have seen as much as 383 on 2 seperate cars, but one was also SD.

I guess that's not to bad and actually what I was hoping you would say. I'm really hoping to get a set of the new S2s in the future because I think they may shine with the SST turbo I have installed. After a bit more testing with this unit I may consider cams if I'm not satisfied with the power. thanks for the help John!

JB,

Do you still feel the S2 cams are the ones for IX owners? There are so many choices within one another. I know you've answered this many times before in this thread, but now that some time has passed i just wanted to know how you felt.
