Sorry i got another question. Someone in this thread mentioned they were upgrading to an AEM. How much more power could be made by going stand alone?

Nice that we have an FP Red dyno to compare to the BBK lite dyno on the same day, same dyno, both 93 octane:

I guess the key differences are that the BBK was running 4 less psi, but had a Buschur head and a sheet metal intake? I think the Buschur head has proven to be at least 20 whp in a 400 whp application, plus it should allow for more timing advance without knock? I don't know what to attribute to the intake manifold. Buschur advertises a 15 whp gain for a ported stocker and a 65 mm TB. And I'm not sure about the cams at this boost level.

The spool-up looks pretty similar between these two turbos as far as I can tell. I assume that the BBK with the turbine upgrade will spool a little slower but make more top end power?

Note:

I have a stock IC/ charlie has a buschur race core
m2's/ charlie is on s2s
stock block & head/ charlie buschur st3 head
stock intake mani/ JMFAB intake mani

Not really apples to apples....i think the bbk well have spool up and midrange from there on out its all red....

This thread is about the BBK not the red

Agreed matt.

This is NOT an apples to apples comparision. That was not the point of this. Both in my opinion are good turbos. They each have there place. You can not compare these two cars. I didnt want to post the graphs for this reason. Way to many differences. Like I and you said. I have a head, different cams, IC, and JM fabrications intake mani.

But to answer some questions. I cant really say what the head added. I swapped from S1 to S2 at the same time then a week later the manifold went in. There was a very noticeable tuning tolerance for knock with the head. I can finally run timing in my car. I would guess a like 200 or rpm spool lose with the turbine(again i could be wrong). I am expecting a 10-20hp and tq jump from the turbine wheel

Please try and keep each turbo in there own threads. I understand fully that people will compare these turbos. Its just natural to do so but nothing is remotely close with these two cars with mods. If people do its starts well the head is worth xx hp so subtract xx hp his cams are better no his are better etc...

I understand you guys are friends and don't want to step on each other's toes, but anyone interested in either of these turbos is going to want to compare them.

First i dont think its a matter of stepping on each others toes since we both could really care less....this thread is for the BBK tho and updates of whats going on with its production....if you want to compare the two start your own thread

I know people want to compare the 2 but keep this one on the BBK....

very true its the nature of the beast. I just think there both great turbos and each of them have there place. Like you said people will compare them no matter what. I just dont want this or Matts threads to get turned into a pissing contest thats all

Maybe that's because the top graph is from a car with a Buschur race FMIC, Buschur Stage 3 head, JMFab intake manifold and more aggressive cams?

The bottom car has all stock pieces in those locations and milder Cosworth cams so of course it won't make as much power up top..
