HELP! No Boost!

started running like crap don't see any boost and was looking for any type of couplers that blew off with no results.

I don't hear the turbo spooling so it may end up being a blown turbo.

I don't have a boost gauge but an electronic gauge that doesn't show much/any boost was unable to check. I'll check tomorrow morning.

I do hear the BOV go off just a little bit.

It accelerates like an old woman driving.

I did not use any boost leak tester or anything like that due to not having that available or anything.

Any ideas will be thankful. I did search and go through 20 pages with NO results. Plus I have work tomorrow and it's my daily!

Did you do any work on the car when this started?

You haven't given us any real info. if the BOV is blowing off, then it has to be spooling, but you said you can't hear it. You also say you don't have a boost gauge followed by the fact you have an electronic gauge. What's the difference? How were you unable to check? Your post is very strange.

We need a lot more details on exactly what happens and when while driving - rpms, bucking, stuttering/sputtering, coughing, spooling, whatever.

I was driving boosting pretty high but no noise like others describe a popping sound if the IC piping pop off.

In first it takes about 2k RPM to start moving/accelerating.

While moving it takes up 4k and dropping in and out of acceleration to move up some MPH. i haven't gone anywhere faster than 35mph since. scared to get on the highway since it moves almost like a snail to accelerate especially in the 3k rpm range.

If I rev it upper than 4k it doesn't help at all just doesn't seem to accelerate.

I was unable to fully remove the whole front bumper I did check as much as possible with the visible couplings and tighted each. I went under the car to check on the licp(stock) to see if that blew off. nothing unusual that i noticed.

I don't hear it spooling. Usually when I accelerate I can hear the turbo whind up pretty good. When I rev up I don't hear it at all. the bov is fairly faint (HKS SSQV recirculated).

greddy boost controller will show you vacuum and once it goes under boost. but it's located right above the ashtray so I did not pay attention until i posted that i should have.

You still aren't explaining what you mean by "dropping in and out of acceleration" and "moves almost like a snail." Are you saying that you can floor the accelerator, and the rpms will just go up very slowly? does nothing happen? It doesn't choke or sputter? The RPMs don't shoot up right around 3500 rpm?

If it is choking and sputtering to the point you can't go over 35rpm even in 5th, then it's an IC pipe busted off.

If it the rpms spin high when trying to boost, then it's a slipping clutch.

If it's nothing like those two, then I have no idea...could be the turbo, but it's very rare for a stock turbo to take a crap, although you do have the worst BOV possible on your Evo. Your stock BOV is way better, so who knows why you have an SSQV...

ok. let me try to get this better to get more assistance. Thanks for your responses thus far.

I see no problems with the clutch since ****s just fine. I did not see that problem
The HKS SSQV was already on vehicle when bought.
I decided not to go over 35MPH did not test if able to go faster.

As I try to start driving, while in First gear, I must rev atleast to 2k RPM to start accelerating.

Usually around 3.3-3.6, I start to see boost but that's when I notice a huge power drop then usual and will not accelerate. to compensate I rev up toward 4k then drop it back down to around 3.5-3.7 to have it accelerate a bit. (this is in 2nd-3rd gear). **I do not notice any sputter or anything like that.....I just notice no boost/hardly any boost and will not accelerate (or close to a snail moving)**

**I've only had to drive a-b from town to town since issue started**

I usually can hear the turbo spool while revving the rpms. I hear a faint BOV so that led me to believe it was a boost leak. Unfortunately, I never had to test for this before so I did not have a leak down tester in hand or instructions for testing for this.

I, then checked all visible coupling and went under the car to verify the LICP was still connected correctly to the turbo. Did not feel anything unusual.

I tightened all UICP except the ones at the actual IC.

I was unable to take the front bumper all the way off to take a look at everything the Undertray clips are extremely GAY and hard to remove. I don't want to break the **** so I decided to lift and feel for anything wrong.

The Greddy electronic Boost Controller displays vacuum and looked normal. Idle was at approximately .75k-.8kRPM and thats fine.

The only thing that has me worried, though as warrlton mentioned the evo ix turbo really never craps out, but I don't hear the spool nor see the boost at the normal RPM where it kicks in (like vtec yo, please get your jokes out).

As mentioned, I'm pretty humble guy and thanks for any advice and hints to solve without going to a mechanic. I will do that after I listen to any advice given!

Sounds to me like you blew a coupler off. Keep in mind that you may have unseated a coupler, therefore on a visual inspection, it may look like the couple is still attached to the pipe (allowing you to cruise in vacuum, and as soon as you build pressure, it separates). Physically tug on each section of piping would be my first step.

I'm almost certain it is a boost leak, I really need to take this annoying front bumper off so I can redo all my couplings. I think I jinxed myself when me and a friend were talking about LICP problems with couplings blowing off.

Thanks for all your help!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately it ended up being the clutch. when they released the clutch in first it still was on. the amount for clutches ARE INSANE FOR THIS FREAKING CAR!
