Heavy Rain

First and foremost let me mention that Im a bit mad
This is the second time this month I decide to wash my car, wax it and polish and then it decides to rain !!!!
I live in a desert city where it never rains and now all of a sudden its been severely heavy rain storms.

But thats not the question I have come to ask. I was noticing when switching gears it was extra notchy when driving over deeper puddles. Is this a normal thing for heavy rain driving. I drove the car earlier today so I know that it is not the transmission going out. Also my car is pretty low should I worry about driving through the rain. It cant be more than a foot of rain but Im still cautious.

Driving throught the rain shouldn't be a problem, but it might not be too good on hot *** exhaust components to be rapidly cooled by going through deep *** puddles. I can't really think of any other problem other than that. I guess the same could apply to the tcase/tranny/rearend too. I don't really know if it's actually an issue or not, but it's closest thing to an issue I can think of.

Probably the water is cooling off the transmission. That or it's psychological and you're shifting more/less carefully while driving through a puddle.

Def dont worry about the rain. Waxes help protect against water spotting especially hard water and acid rain spotting. Being that you live in the desert its more important to protect it from that old rain and when its so hot it only worsens the chance of water spots from drying so fast.
Just run an open ended hose over the rain to flood rinse it off and take your drying towels and pat dry what little remaining water is left.

Wait, so your driving through 12" of rain water? Keep the evo away from flash flood areas from now on!

ha well probably not a foot of water but it was quite a heavy rainstorm. I wouldnt consider it a flash flood though. The only problem is the street to my house has a huge dip in the road so unless I plan on sleeping on the either side of the street I have to cross over the rain puddles

I know. Here in Florida it is hot and sunny and then around 3, it rains for an hour then stops. Hella hard to keep a car, especially my 06 TB Evo IX clean when it freaking rains all the time.

I hate it!

That happened to me the other day going to work. I picked up my buddy and then it started to rain heavily. Once I got off the highway it stopped and there was a huge puddle id say about 6-8 inches deep and I had no choice but to drive through it unless I wanted to reverse the whole way up the off ramp and I didnt notice any diffrence in the way my tranny felt.

I feel you man. Over here in California it doesn't rain much but it's so dusty in the summer time.
