HKS racing suction intake.. thoughts?
HKS intake sounds good with loud *** turbo spool, and your stock bypass valve sounds like it's vta.
The filtration is not that good through the HKS filter, but it's a race filter, not really meant for the street. You can buy a pre-filter from OUTERWEARS that was made specifically for the HKS evo intake. It helps 100%, and I stopped getting fine dust in my intake tube.
Adding the APS cold air extension just complimented the intake even more, and the APS has a good K&N filter on it, plus it draws air from outside the engine bay, which definitely makes a difference. The drawback is that they're both about $300 a piece brand new.

I have had the hks super mega flow on for about 3 years with the greddy rs bov recirculate kit and it amplifies the spool sound a decent amount as well as a loud vta type sound. Hope that can help in some way.
I had the HKS filter on my DSM... uber piece of ****. Sure, it makes power, but that's because it doesn't filter worth a damn. Plus the fact you gotta change it as often as you change oil is pretty sad and annoying. I was constantly having to clean my entire intake tract (upper/lower piping, intercooler, intake pipe, etc.) because of the poor filtration. Imagine how much of that crap got in my engine.
Any open filter will give you what your semi-ricer heart desires. I'd personally recommend the Buschur filter. Don't run the MAF pipe unless you want to go through the process of rescaling your MAF.

Ummm nobody said anything about rice so dont talk about it like that's all were looking for. We asked for an opinion not a smartass remark. I'm still wondering if anyone has used the extreme psi intake they offer?
Anyways, keep the comments coming, the useful ones atleast.

I think if you go with just the piping and another filter it would be a great setup. I just wouldn't use their filter.
I ended up going with a good ol' K&N filter because Ive always used them, but Im currently trying to find an inlet pipe I like. Ive looked at buschurs inlet pipe but he doesnt have all the factory nipples on it and Ive also looked at the samco which I dont like. If I could order just the inlet pipe from HKS I would, but for now I still have the good ol' factory flex piping.
Here is that review:

As long as you get rid of your air box, which has baffles to reduce the noise from the turbo, you will hear your car spool like crazy if thats what your looking for. By just removing my airbox and using a MAF adapter and K&N filter my car spools crazy loud, which will happen with any filter setup minus the factory airbox I believe.
